Are BFC really interested in another defender?

Hearts boss Robbie Neilson says it will take a ‘huge bid’ to lure John Souttar away from his side this winter, as per a report by Sky Sports.

Hearts hope to keep hold of the Championship-linked defender in the upcoming January transfer window.

Souttar, 25, has been linked with QPR, Stoke City, Blackpool, Blackburn Rovers, Middlesbrough, Luton Town and Preston North End, according to a report by the Daily Record.

He is also said to be on the radar of Scottish Premiership giants Celtic and Rangers.

Swap deal for Thorniley :)
A neighbour of mine is a friend of Jordan's parents (Jordan & them live near to me but I don't know them), and he tells me that Jordan's enjoying his loan at Oxford, living in a rented house with his family. He's picked up a number of MOM awards, and he wants to make the move permanent, but says BFC won't sanction it. I said well they won't at this time, as the transfer window is closed until January!
No reason to disbelieve my neighbour as he's a nice guy.

I liked Thorniley but he’s clearly seen as surplus so if he’s happy there, then yep makeweight in the Brannigan deal seems to make sense.EDIT if we’re still after Brannigan come January.

Never understood the Thorniley loan. Thought he did well when he came in the team due to injuries. Never let us down.
He did do well for us considering most of us wrote him off before he got back into the side. But he wouldn’t have had a minute of game time yet this season if he was still here. Gretarsson who plays the same position and is a much better option has only played once in a cup game.

I agree Kopite. The strange thing being, that Critch worked with Jordan at Crewe (with Ollie Turton and my neighbours son - who didn't make the grade).
We revert back to what we always say .... Critch knows best 👍

Paper talk, we need to have a pathway for Casey too. The Viking will be going mad not getting a game, we are absolutely stocked in defence, would think we will go for a central midfielder and Simms in Jan.

Brannagan can fuck off after that snide tweet after the transfer window closed in summer. Hope they don’t finish anywhere near the play offs this year.
Just been looking, what tweet was this I must have missed it? Some random Oxford fan tweeted “I’m not f’ing leaving” with a meme, and he replied with a laughing emoji, but that’s not snide is it?

Thorniley very much a League One player at best. I'd cash in on him.
Errrm last year ALL the players were league one players but I get your point.
That said Keshi, Yates, Husband, Demi, etc have been termed by some as league one players but the whole team has stepped up massively.
Wish Thorniley all the best. As others have said, last year he could have sulked and grumped but he never let us down

I thought at the time that he'd end up regretting not being given the opportunity to come to us, unless he thought we'd be straight back down so it wasn't a major missed opportunity. I fail to see how any professional footballer would be totally happy being in his position now. Wasn't allowed to leave to a club that will very likely consolidate in the league above where he's playing, and he's presumably missed out on a years worth of higher wages too. And Oxford won't go up this season either.

Now I think we'll be back in for him in January - our transfer policy since Critchley arrived tends to be identify the target and wait if we have to rather than moving on to plan B. But the player himself must be wondering if he's missed the chance at Championship football in what is a short career for a footballer.
