Are Lincoln running out of steam?

A win, 3 draws and a defeat in their last 5 games. 6 Points from 15 (we scored 12 in 15) - they got a bit lucky against Wigan but were beaten 4-3 by Plymouth today. Have always thought they were over-performing and unlike Wycombe last season are starting to stumble. The question is if they do stumble, do we have enough in the tank to overtake them and other contenders?

Wycombe also ran out of steam last season IIRC?
The suspension of the season due to Covid effectively helped them, as their bad run of results ended and they ended the season strongly when it restarted.

As for us, I have been most impressed by our defense (despite the injuries), and we are playing consistently well, so why not?

Interesting looking at their forum, this post doesn't even consider us (could we be like the secret assassins!)

Lets get some perspective.

We are 2nd in the table (League 1)

Yes our form over the last few games has taken a downturn, but wwvare still in a very good position.

This is the form of the top 9 over the last 6 games

Peterborough 18pts (1st)
Sunderland 11pts (5th)
Ipswich 11pts (8th)
Lincoln City 9pts (2nd)
Hull City 8pts (3rd)
Oxford 8pts (9th)
Portsmouth 8pts (4th)
Accrington 6pts (7th)
Doncaster 4pts (6th)

Apart from Peterborough no one at the top are taking advantage of the other results.
We are having a sticky period at the moment due to injuries. Hopefully we do not get any more and when the others come back we can start winning games comfortably.
Keep the faith. Even if we do end up in the play-offs this will be a successful season

Don’t forget Wycombe were stumbling too

The enforced break enabled them to get players in their smaller squad back to fitness

Wycombe proper ran out of steam and the break benefited them more than any other side. Had the season not had the break I daresay their season could have capitulated completely. Fortunately for them they came back fresh and focused

If they keep stumbling and we win our games in hand then we would still have a chance of 2nd automatic place as we would be on a par with all the rest of the current Play Off teams.

Looking at the highlights of Plymouth v Lincoln it looked like a 2 teams with no idea how to defend.

Oh and Plymouth played music after their goals. Unforgivable in an empty stadium.

For reference:

Win the 3 games in hand and it takes us up to 1.73 (5th)
Win 2 of the 3 games in hand and it takes us up to 1.63 (7th)
Win 1 of the 3 games in hand and it takes us up t0 1.53 (11th)

Goes to show what difference those 3 games could make.

Lincoln's dip is not like ours at the start of the season and they have points on the board already. We are currently playing well, but we have a long way to go to meet the overall level output Lincoln have achieved so far this season. We can make the playoffs though if we keep up current form and consistency

I do hope we're back on the last day of the season to pip Lincoln to the final automatic spot at BR and to see Scrafton's face looking like a slapped arse 😁

I'd say Lincoln are hoping to make automatic and should make the play-offs. We are hoping to make the play-offs.

Is that just stating the obvious? What was the question again? 🤓
