Are the board too quiet?

I don't know if it's just because they are busy with behind the scenes stuff, there's nothing to say or silence is sometimes the best option - but anyone else feel we hardly ever hear anything from this board? Maybe it's just because it was like a circus with the Oystons where there always seemed to be a fresh piece of information to discuss, but they seem very quiet and maybe a bit more fan interaction wouldn't go amiss?

It's a good question.

My view is that they should only communicate when they have something specific to say. I'm not that needy that I have to be reassured by them every five minutes, although I realise that is precisely what some people DO want.

In any case, now we have Structured Dialogue in place, that should be the mechanism by which issues for discussion are identified, the Board has chance to consider its response and then a conversation can take place. That's far better than the club trying to respond ad hoc to every issues that rears its head, I think. If they tried that, the danger is that they would be forever reacting, and not actually doing what they want to do or setting the agenda themselves.

Depends on the club and where its at in terms of its local community as the Cods for instance have a business club, and as stated previously have made inroads into local schools etc where the O's didnt bother too much.

There is more than one way of skinning a cat and the club may be employing subtle methods that arent obvious.

We have a SLO now who acts between fans and the board so not bothered if I hear nowt from them just big announcement i.e New training ground.

We must be due for another Structured Dialogue soon.

When it happens, we must ask them who owns the Gold Bond now, and how much the club gets out of it. Also, allowing the bars in the west to expand into vacant corridor space. But, I don't mean to hijack the thread, and getting back to the OP, I'm happy with the quiet composure of the board. The last thing we want is them coming out with a vote of confidence in Larry -- then we know he's doomed!

Blackpool have a business club.

The previous regime were in the habit of trumpeting their (better) intentions and half-baked plans, especially around season ticket renewal time. We'd all had enough of that.
I'm quite content for the current board & management to crack on with their list of priorities and only make announcements when developments are nailed on.
They'll have been largely occupied in January with all the transfer activity. Which, overall, seems to have been a good use of their time.

I trust we'll hear from Sadler and the board when they have something meaningful to share. The busy January window was a statement in itself.

The Board are probably very busy restructuring the whole business behind the scenes and I'm happy for them to crack on with that and let us know whenever there is some significant new development to report.

I don’t want to hear from them unless it’s a concrete announcement about concrete progress. Otherwise I trust them to just get in with whatever they need to be getting on with.

Do you reckon we’ll get the old fans forums back? I mean, Mansford & Saddler seem a lot more approachable than the Oyston’s

I suppose the question is when the manager is being roundly attacked from all sides, is that the point when they should have something specific today - either back him or sack him?
