Ashley Fletcher.

The utmost respect for his 16 goal tally this season.
If ever there was a player that went from hero to zero Ash epitomises that.
But I'll tell you what I would love;
Sign Gary Madine MkII, put him next to Ennis and put Fletch in that no.10 slot.
We'd be cookin' on gas.
Aside of Kyle Wootton and Ollie Palmer I cannot think of a Madine-esque type player we could go for, and we arent getting either of those. That type of player is a dying breed nowadays but yes, you are spot on.

We do, but not without making changes in our powderpuff midfield.
we urgently need midfielders with the same attitude, pride, energy & fight as Villas John McGinn.
Hes not a superstar, but he's a leader, with the heart of a lion & his commitment can never be questioned.

Bloxham infuriates me he just won’t jump & all he seems to do is back into the opposition & wonders why he’s lost possession again. He’s not on his own with being soft though. Our recruitment whoever was responsible has left us short and unbalanced. The system change re the wingers was unavoidable I guess. There’s only Imray who really looks good. That said we need at least a couple of good players now & for me a midfielder who can break up play & is not slow. A left wingback & loan wise a centre back & striker. So 4 would be better. Today showed the gulf in class in many areas.

Banks wasn't happy as he wanted the pen. Think Fletch just said 'it's me' and that was that.

To be honest I'd count goals + pens as most players can score a pen, but most can't finish with the outside of their boot. seems a fairer reflection.

We should have signed at least a couple of young energetic players with potential.. Cant see what our recruitment model/strategy was.

The gulf it showed was a team with money to burn against a team that hasn't got a pot to piss in, in comparison.

your first two sentences are far more apt to Fletcher. He barely jumps and backs in all the time. And he's playing in his natural position unlike Bloxham. But as long as he's scoring that's fine,

Totally agree, Fletcher could be our Joel Linton.

Where would be without Fletch, fantastic to get to 16 goals, I can only applaude him he is doing brilliant for us long may it continue

He's a striker so yes really . Plus he doesn't just back into people . His first touch and lay off play is a joy to watch at league 1 level. Even today he looked very smooth

They both are weak in the air. Can they be coached to jump & be braver?

errm.. if you read the post i was replying to, it was a post which was critical of aspects of BLOXHAM's game. I simply pointed out that those two criticisms were also weaknesses in Fletchers game and the difference between the two is that Fletcher has always played down the middle whereas Bloxham is considered more of a wide player. Those weaknesses of Fletcher are negated by his strengths which are as you say are his touch, close control and lay off play and added into that his goals.

I think you've either misread or misunderstood my point.

mmmm...I'd say not. Neither of them are overly physical types of players. Fletcher is having another very good season and yep, i initially got it wrong about him, as did many others, although it was with some justification. Bloxham? There is a very good player in there, we've seen that. The manager just has to find the best way of bringing it out.

Neither are number 9s and neither are adept at being the back to the goal target man. Fletch is better at it if the ball is to feet as his technique is exceptional and rarely gives it away.

Ideally think of Madine/Simms winning the aerial battle (back to goal) and bringing it down to Fletcher/Bloxham. Would they then excel at either picking the next pass to start the attack or running at the opposition looking to create a chance?

We are a compromised squad/team and Evatt has worked wonders with both these lads to get them to be something close to a target man.

What a surprise you disagreeing 😂 Fletcher regardless of his not jumping has made himself un droppable with his goals and approach play. I’ll agree on that.
