BEHAVE FFS

At some point Cruzzer we have to return to normality You can’t lock people up forever

All the most vulnerable have either had the first dose or at least been offered it

Meeting outside carries with it minimal risk

I don’t see your issue
I saw groups of way more than 6 hugging and kissing, basically not abiding to the rules.

All in the age groups not to be vaccinated.

If you think this is over you are extremely naive.

This virus ain't going anywhere until a lifetime vaccine is found or it fizzles itself out and that isn't happening soon.

So you have to live with it as when opening indoors happens in the next few months those who haven't been vaccinated rates are going to increase.

So people outside having fun big deal.

As said above, the most at risk have now all had the first jab (at least), we are now reaching the point where enough is enough and normality has to resume.
We can't keep the nation locked up because of 5000 cases a day, identified due to every man and his dog now being tested twice a week, the vast majority of which will be asymptomatic.

Remember when this was about helping out the NHS? What has changed?

If I was being extra cynical, I'd say it would be to keep the fear factor/necessity to have the vaccine as high as possible to make sure everyone has it.

What are the chances of someone under the age of 40 with no underlying conditions feeling anything other than flu like symptoms for more than a few days?

An acquaintance of mine has sadly died from CV19 2 weeks ago. He was 32 with NO underlying health conditions and he regularly cycled over 75 miles a day at weekends. He leaves a wife without her loving husband and 2 lovely kids without a father for the rest of their lives.

GET IT INTO YOUR SKULL THAT THIS IS NOT THE ** FLU.

Not for one second am I denying that there will be SOME people who are susceptible to this under the age of 40 with no underlying conditions, or that this is the "** flu".

Your acquaintance is probably one of a handful of people who fell in to the bracket, sadly, who have died despite being young, fit and having no underlying conditions.
Is that enough to warrant continuing locking the entire country down?

We'll never leave the house again on the off chance someone dies from this, especially with the "new" variants coming along every so often to dampen everyone's mood who might be thinking of going to the park.

If people still want to live in isolation despite half of the adult population having now had the vaccine, then that is on them, but the rest of us need to get on with our lives.

On a lovely day, there's no issue with people going to the park. However, I'd prefer it if people still socially distanced. Can't see the issue for anyone in that.

Can't say I was happy with people in my social space before any of this started. Certainly not now.

I'd like to think adequate social distancing whenever possible is here to stay, and sensible guidelines to minimise risk going forward, if it speeds up "normality" should be followed.
None of which should have to hamper the vast majority of people's social lives, jobs etc if reasonable.

99.99 percent abiding by the rules. Those leaving litter behind should have had local police or whatever the community support officers are, at local parks, issuing on the spot fines for leaving litter. Very obvious. Not sure why this wasn't happening. Otherwise what do they do?

Cruzzer

That is tragic and sorry for your loss.

It is always sad when any tragedy occurs but they do happen even among the young and healthy and they will continue to do so.

Take road traffic accidents for example, the young and healthy can be involved in fatal accidents but nobody would seriously consider walking to work the next day after such an accident.

Surely, we shouldn't be locking ourselves away forever because a relatively small number of young and healthy people have lost there lives as a result of a virus ?

And you’ll be one of the first to whinge when restrictions are put back in place or delayed. All because of the selfish actions of the braindead.
I don't even think we should be in Lockdown now, not having to wait till the end of June for everything to open but that's another issue.

Taking away hospitals and care homes where the virus has been rife how else have millions of people been catching the disease if they've been sat at home and masks work?

Yep they've been coming into contact with others INSIDE so getting upset about seeing folk outside is nonsense.

Of course people and the young in particular are going to behave like giddy kippers - on a more positive note I don't think we will have another lockdown.

Crazy scenes across the country.

Sun is out, brains and common sense left at home!
I understand it’s your struggling with this virus situation, but the people in the picture are young people who have had their Liberty removed when they barely get I’ll never mind die. I get it, they can spread it but you really can’t blame them. People are absolutely cured with it all. I expected nothing less to be honest.

Seeing all that litter left lying around makes me come down in favour of a permanent lockdown. What the hell is the problem with taking your
f"&*^%g litter back home with you?

Yes, I am not sure about a permanent lockdown but no excuse for the litter.

It doesn't happen the same in other countries and no excuse for it, it's just laziness.

Having seen some of the scenes today, it won't be long before cases start shooting up again. Home Bargains jam packed. Parents taking their kids in with them etc etc. Some people just don't learn.

What happens when you open up too fast: Chile's rapid vaccination programme hit by new virus surge in warning to UK

Amid one of the world’s fastest vaccination campaigns, doctors are accusing the Chilean government of fueling a huge spike in Covid-19 cases by prematurely reopening the economy.

Daily infections are smashing records. Intensive care beds are once again scarce and one hospital, in the coastal city of Valparaiso, has run out of space in its morgue and is now storing bodies in the hallways.

The surge is so bad that President Sebastián Piñera has been forced to order a new lockdown, covering 14 million of the South American nation’s 19 million citizens

In terms of vaccinations Chile is about 2 weeks behind the UK on first doses, but way ahead on second doses, most of this seems to be Chinese sourced so is that not as effective as claimed? Who knows?

Last paragraph!
I was wondering how on Earth were they getting Ill when vaccinated? The stats here show an almost zero % hospitalised after 3 weeks of vaccine

So either they’re catching it within days of the jab or they’ve bought a bunkum cheap useless vaccine from China (just like our Chinese sourced testing kits were).

This situation ultimately comes down to understanding how infectious and more importantly how deadly the virus is. I know of people who’ve been hospitalised and then they’ve come out in a couple of days. Is that because in serious cases the virus is far worse than anything we’ve known before or is it because there’s a BIG focus on the virus and people are being hospitalised for symptoms that whilst serious might not have been drawn the same response pre-covid?

I’m not suggesting one over the other, but if it’s the former then we’re in a very difficult place because even with vaccinations it’s obvious this virus isn’t going anywhere. Any sort of opened society will lead to increased infections and increased hospitalisation.

The roads and shops have been rammed for months now, not just last week or two, at some point things are gonna have to go back to normal(ish)...poeple did die of things of all ages pre COVID.

10 deaths today, granted the info is usually slow on the weekend but let’s have a bit of positivity at Easter. It’s all going to be ok and we’re nearly there. Believe. Wait am I on a politics thread, thought i was talking about the mighty for a second. Anyway BELIEVE.

Cruzzer, do you think your personal experience has coloured your view and leads to exaggeration? A year ago you were posting that 1 in 2 will get Covid whereas a year later the ONS are saying it’s actually about 1 in 7. And we now have a highly effective vaccine programme to suppress further rapid transmission.

Firstly no, secondly I don’t think I said 1 in 2, I always thought it would be about 1 in 6/7.

Yes vaccine is working well but how many that attended the “party” at Cardiff Bay will have had the jab? Rates are going to rise again in the next couple of weeks due to this, and Boris will have a difficult decision about easing restrictions.

If people learnt to abide by the guidance and rules we HAD a chance of coming out of restrictions without a major rise in infections. Now, well there in lies the question?

I recall you said 50% of us would get covid.

Cruzzer,

I can only speak from my own experience but I feel like MOST people are sticking to the guidance. I might be wrong, but if a small percentage make such a difference then this is a whole different game anyway and we’re not going back to normal till a cure is found.

One example was the Atletico/Liverpool match last season that caused a huge rise they reckon, and it just needs a small percentage to start another knock on effect.
Factor in too the strains that keep popping up and you've a very clever virus that wont be disappearing anytime soon, but the warnings dont seem to be getting through.

On the backdrop of this-for a town like Blackpool at least- we desperately need to get hotels and the like back open, and the only way we can do this is reducing the impact of covid quickly.
