Best and worse stadium you have been to?

Goodison is a cracking ground.

Best, probably the San siro

Worst, perm any from the old grounds of Wigan, Halifax, Doncaster, Hartlepool, Wrexham, Darlington or Chester!!

I know it's not what you had in mind, but the new Wembley strangely answers both questions for me.

For a stadium that size the view's very good, escalators to the top levels, good amount of catering.

For the national stadium, access to it by road is a joke, it's way over priced, the middle corporate tier and that section on halfway that doesn't fill up until 10 mins into the second half, are embarrassing, the stewards are a tad over zealous (or they were the last two times I was there)

Went to the Withdean, Ninian Park and Donnies old one Belle Vue. All atrocities.

The worst one still in use, is probably Fratton Park. Well at least they’ve put a roof over that stand now.

I did enjoy St James, even though we were 2 miles away from the pitch.

Withdean, definitely the worst. Not sure about the best but MK Dons have a decent stadium. I liked that you could still see the game from the kiosk queues. Nice seats, good view too.

Worst has to be the old Estadio National in Santiago. I thought the whole stand was coming down around our ears when the fans were bouncing around after a goal.
Best is probably the Millennium although the Parc des Princes come a close second

I despise the new Wembley for the reasons you've said, the stewards are also wankers who couldn't care less about any trouble but woe betide you trying to bring your own food and drink in.

The old Wembley was also terrible, being in the middle of shithole doesn't help, the Millennium is miles better.

The old County Ground at Northampton was quirky with it's two and a half sides and main stand made of meccano..... quirky... but still shite.

Best is close between Santiago Bernabeu and Signal Iduna (BVB Dortmund), I'd go with the latter based on the atmosphere the Yellow Wall makes.

Worst would probably be Layer Road, Colchester.

Best:
- New Wembley
- Stadium of Light was particularly impressive, probably helped by the fact I was visiting in League One where it felt out of place.

Worst:
- Highbury, simply because they don't serve beer and the pies were about a fiver each. I don't mind a standing terrace, in fact I'd say it enhances an away day (Accrington for example) but the whole experience of Fleetwood away is shite.

Best : none stand out. New Wembley is awful I'm not sure why people are going for that. If I had to pick one I'd probably fo for Pride Park at Derby.

Worst : The Withdean was awful. Gillingham is poor, the Vetch had awful toilets. Springfield Park was grim. Rootes Hall is a shed.

I loved white heart Lane, not the most attractive grounds but great atmosphere. I'd take that over a new dead ground any day. The Madejski for example is a nice ground but it's location is shite and atmosphere is terrible.

Is this just footy or can we do cricket as well? Assuming the answer to that is yes, then.

Best: Lords, Adelaide Oval, Bloomers with a big crowd, Trent Bridge.

Worst: too many to mention but Cold Blow Lane had a certain edge to it

Always liked a visit to Aldershot with the little arrow once you were in the ground pointing right for away fans and left for home fans. Craven Cottage also a fave, you could watch the match on the park behind if it was better than ours plus nice view of the Thames. Also of course a visit to Stair Park Stranraer.

Old Trafford was horrible mainly for the lack of atmosphere (home fans) and all the tourists swarming around stalls outside and taking photos. Much prefer a trip to Exeter than Old Trafford.

Been to loads of terrible grounds so hard to choose one.
The best is Spurs new stadium; it's more like an airport terminal inside the concourses than a football ground.

Best Murrayfield; Arsenal; Cardiff Arms Park; Old Blackburn ground was great;
Worst Bolton with the supermarket and no roof; Everton pathetic view any tiny wooden seats; old Wigan; old Halifax:

Well I think Hillsborough warrants a pretty strong mention for worst grounds for obvious reasons.
Obviously there are lots of crappy grounds in the lower leagues and souless new builds as well.
However Villa Park and Goodison stood out for me as very poor during the PL season.
I actually like Pride Park and if they got rid of those crapsticks (sic) I quite like The King Power Stadium.

Never liked Luton’s ground - seems very unloved & haphazardly put together.
Equally can’t say anything nice about Hartlepool (town or ground).
Not a fan of the 80-90’s “Lego” breed of new grounds like Northampton, Scunny, Shrewsbury & Chester etc

Wembley probably the best ground I’ve been to.

Crewe part of the away end had railway sleepers embedded into the ground, you had to do a Rudolph Nureyev going to the toilets
Stadio Olympico it's the occasion of a lifetime to see Blackpool in a Cup Final in Europe.

Love millennium stadium in Cardiff and st James park Newcastle. Both magnificent and right in the city centre. Hate Wembley it's soulless and in the middle of nowhere

Crewe just looks a bit silly with a quarter of the Nou Camp on one side and sheds for the rest. That chippy is over rated as well.

I was disappointed with Barcelona. All open apart from one side.
Real Madrid much better

Agree with Springfield Park though.
Fellows Park ( old Walsall ground) away end was bad.
To Be fair it was great with 86000 in, although I could of done with some binoculars.

Agree with Insider about liking Pride Park. Used to like the old Brentford ground where at half time you could wonder across from the end of the ground you team was attacking in the first half to the opposite end.

Can't believe some are slating Goodison Park, to me it's a great traditional old ground and am grateful I managed to get there with Blackpool, I'd rather go there than the Emirates.

It's the same with Bloomfield Road, I'd rather go to the old ground than the new one.

Goodison Park is fine in the away end - unless you actually want to buy anything or visit the toilet at half time. Well beyond its sell by date.

The away section at the Villa was unbelievably cramped as well.

Luton is weird, and dire. Oxford is absolutely soulless. Ditto Oldham, albeit less cold than it once was. And this thread won't be complete until someone mentions those backless seats at Ashton Gate. Now there IS a long walk back to the station...

The Millenium will always be a bit special and is so much better than Wembley...Ajax is fantastic as was Stade Del Alpi when first built but best in this country for me is the Amex...its just the location thats not great...worst is Hartlepool

Best - Old Trafford or Wembley
Worst - Edgar Street, Hereford United
Ouch 🤕 (being Hereford born and bred). To be fair the View from the away end is dreadful, but a full Edgar street was always a great atmosphere, and the view from other stands was always fine. Proper old ground. I would say it’s got a lot more character then some of these Lego grounds that are around the football league.

Best Maracaná, Rio de Janeiro just for the history and sheer size of it, although when we went in 2002 the crowd was only about 18,000, with a lot of the ground closed and unsafe.
Worst probably Luton mid 70’s, horrible ground just odd.
Sadly must include Bloomfield Road late 80’s/90’s disgraceful facilities, dangerous and decrepit. To witness it’s decline from my attendance as a kid during the early 60’s through the 70’s was heartbreaking and embarrassing.Thank god we’ve moved on now, and have an owner
who cares for the club, fans and the community. UTP.
