Best Female Vocalist Ever

Yeah looks good, Pistols Gig & Damned film also on tomorrow night, got the Damned film & saw the Pistols at Brixton but not on the night showing.
Yep. I've also got the Damned documentary. I'm hoping that the BBC reshow the Punk at BBC on Bbc4 soon. 90 mins of joy.
Just booked tickets for ANL at the Continental in November.

There are many good female vocalists/ musicians out there but let's be honest...men absolutely dominate in this area. I spent a good couple of hours talking with a mate at work yesterday about musical influences/ favourites etc. We discussed many many bands , singers, albums and singles over the years and there wasn't one female involved anywhere!

Saw Lauren Hill at a free gig on Lawsons field years ago.
It was originally billed as the Fugees but for some reason the guys couldn’t attend, so she did an a Capella set, absolute class.
Omg, free on Lawsons field 😱 How did I miss that 🙁
She’s amazing .

Ella Fitzgerald.
Never hit a wrong note.
Go to Youtube, enter Ella Fitzgerald and We'll take Manhatten.
I guarantee you'll like it. (A few different versions).

There are so many genres to pick from so very difficult to say who is best of all, but in their own way:-
Enya
Sarah Brightman
Annie Lennox
Debbie Harry
Karen Carpenter
Charlotte Church
Kiri Te Kanawa
Roberta Flack

The list is endless

Showing my age now,I saw the Carpenters and Diana Ross at the Winter Gardens both great Shows.
Listen to Anna Netrebko and Elina Garanca sing the Barcorolle from the "Tales of Hoffman" superb voices

Karen Carpenter was superb. Songs rather twee at times but she hits the notes with clarity, feeling and economy - none of this 50 notes when 1 will do nonsense.

Saw Faye Fife leading the Revilloes at the Norbreck. Brilliant!
Best female singer you've seen at the Norbreck:
Fay Fife 👍
Pauline Murray 👍
Toyah - fair to middling
Chrissie Hynde - shite on the night

Not at the Norbreck, but Liz Fraser has a breathtaking voice.

Aretha Franklin, Ronnie Spector, Mavis Staples, Sara Barielles and Joni Mitchell all superb. However Ella Fitzgerald is at the top for me, simply divine.

Watched the Kate Bush documentary last night - fell in love with her watching as a child, I still think she’s amazing. I don’t think there’s been anyone like her since, a lot have imitated. Best female vocalist and artist this country has produced.

I think it really was the Revillos by then Levi? - long time ago though sadly, Eugene Reynolds quiff looking like a tricorn hat according to the review 😗
👍 Yeh, I’d forgot they name changed a couple of times, as you say it was a loooong time ago!

Not the best, but Diana Ross had such a sweet voice, particularly on those early Supremes songs. I've seen her live and her voice was just as good as I'd hoped.
