To think the growth in matchday revenue was under Appleton in a terrible season too.

I wonder how well we've cut our cloth this season.

Will there have been a relegation clause?

TV money is down a lot, although we have a some helpful cup runs, plus player sales, bigger shirt sponsorship etc.

We'll be down but those things will have helped I'm sure.

It is. Sorry, I misread the tweet.

Like you say though, it makes competing in that division tough.
The wages are outrageous and don’t include bonuses. How much value do these players create to merit that wage? And in the scheme of things they are underpaid. Football finance is madness.

I’m not sure I follow . Are you suggesting loans shouldn’t be repaid ?
Apologies if I’m making assumptions.
I think Sadler has said that he's unlikely to get all his money back. The club, however, could be worth more than he paid for it when next sold. There may be an element of comfort for him in that.

No parachute payments and the drop in revenue and potential revenue from player sales is significant hence our urgent need to get promoted.

It means you buy a club create debt and the club is now the debtor. It’s from the Glazers manual on how to operate a football club.
It's what happens to that debt should there be a need to recall it. Without being a D&G merch. all looks good now and we can see no prospect of it being called in, but we've no idea what will happen in the future under various scenarios. This debt will become very large once the TG and The East are done.

Unless the expenditures are gifts to the FC. only to be returned after a sale.

Completely different from the glazers model .

SS is loaning money to the club to keep it afloat.

One day he might get it back or could possibly take some out if we reach the Prem or when the club is in a position to repay if for some reason it starts making significant profit .

It’s the complete opposite of the situation at Man U .

I wouldn’t even describe it as some sort of model . It’s just a necessity in our case as a result of years of neglect . The club requires significant investment .

Call me naive and my view on this may be described as a tad simplistic but that’s how I see it .

I'm going to be a bit stupid here but how did the Oystons keep the club afloat without pumping money in?

Big difference between investing for the future and keeping the Club afloat imo.

You got it. You are being naive. That is since 2019. No new stand, no new training ground, relegated to division one. Subsidized by player sales.

One reason might be cos they spent feck all on it and ran it on a shoe string resulting in a load of money needing to be spent ?

That's not keeping the club afloat though. It's spending what you have (pre_VB especially) and cutting your cloth accordingly and I'm sure if you were on here from the late 90's you'd know I have no love for the O's and have frequently criticized them possibly in about 75% of posts I made.

TBH, rather than fans moaning about getting more handouts from the EPL/PL they'd be better employed getting the local community to support the FC because it seems to me that if the town can't be bothered then what's the point?

You're right, Simon Sadler should bulldoze those 2 big projects though, ignoring the 2 councils processes that are ongoing for both and just BUILD BUILD BUILD 👍

Dearest( sic) oneandonly,so it was seem you think our previous owners were better than the current one….what a sad individual you clearly are .
Each to their own as they say.

Highest ever Season ticket sales in League 1 for us.

Because of the nature of our town(many on minimum wage, work weekends, transient etc) we're never going to get the numbers the likes of Bolton and Burnley for example get.

There's been little significant investment on the playing side, it's been mainly low fee / free transfer / loan contributions, offset by player sales. If and when a significant fee is paid e.g. Joseph then Pool must hope in future that they get a better return than they've had from him.

Think league 1 again will put more of if I'm honest.

Boycotting because of a manager who could get sacked at anytime is a new one on me and just makes us a laughing stock.
It’s not necessarily the manager, more the type of football being played. People may be less willing to commit to a season ticket if they don’t think they’re going to be entertained. They won’t boycott, just pick and choose games.

I think that’s a good point. A team can be a poor side but if they have a bit of character and something about them the fans will still turn up.

Currently I don’t think there is that bond between the team and the fans.

Well you said nothings happened but both projects have been going through a process and are reliant on 2 councils.

So not sure what you expect to happen?
No expectations just observing club is being swamped in debt that far outweighs assets by our custodian since 2019.

It's league 1 football is boring if you want to call it that.

Peterborough aside and maybe 1 or 2 others I really struggle in this division to look at the opposition and think wow they were entertaining.

Teams play three at the back(Bolton/Barnsley etc),flood defence and fancy play formations with third division players yet expect to be entertained like Man City it ain't happening.

I've enjoyed this season way more than last our home form is very good just been crap and our travels.

What should be happening then in your opinion?

As the big projects need doing and need paying for.
That debt is before actual construction starts. Aside from ridiculous choices of managers, and giving way too many non merit based long contracts I think he’s done a decent job of putting in an infrastructure and performing normal basic maintenance. That said seeing as nothing forwards thinking has happened that is a serious amount of debt on the club in 5 1/2 years. If that continues the club is out of business in another 5 1/2 years or if Simon drops dead and is no longer a “custodian). He seems to be somewhat controlling costs but still a lot of untapped revenue streams he is missing out on. He needs to move faster with purpose.
