Biggest disappointment this season?

Have found the thread when Sarkic arrived and there was so much positivity about this player but, for me, by far our worst signing this summer. Thoughts on what went wrong and any other player who was a let down?

Hardly featured, hasn't looked in the best shape and it seems he hasn't trained well.
Robson, Williams, Mitchell and Lubala haven't impressed.
The summer recruitment left much to be desired.

I agree, Sarkic has been the biggest disappointment for me. Mitchell has also not lived up to the hype, he's done ok, but certainly not lived up to what was said about him at United.

There was a complete rebuilding job. Almost an entire new squad:

Maxwell
Ekpiteta
Grettarson
Garbutt
Mitchell
Dougall
Virtue
Stewart
Anderson
Hamilton
Yates

Core of a good squad. I think we need better than Turton, Husband, Kaika, Sarkic and Lubala, and think wages will mean Madine leaving.

So realistically, a right back, a left back, 2 centre backs as good or better than Ekpiteta and Grettarson, a creative midfielder and a couple of strikers. Last summer we brought in 18 new players. This summer will be 6-7 players to fill in the missing pieces of the jigsaw. Genuinely believe we’re not far being off a very good league one team

Exactly what we should have brought in last summer! Let's hope there is an improvement in recruitment this summer.

You could probably lump bez into the mix as well. Potential we a seeing a shift in recruitment from league 2 players looking to step up to players with championship experience. No disrespect meant as some players have taken the step up well.

Whichever way you look at our current plight, it has to be down to the head coach and his choice of players, system and tactics.

My biggest disappointment is not being able to attend games, and I also believe that with a decent crowd in the ground , some of these players would have raised their level of performance just with pure adrenaline. I also think that the lack of supporter participation has had a detrimental effect on some of the younger lads.

I don’t see any excuse for us to be the second lowest scoring team in the division. The lack of conviction in the final third has been an issue since day one this season and I’m desperate for us to become the team I think we can be.

If you look at the photo of Sarkic the day he arrived and now, he looks a stone or so heavier. That surely, as well as himself, must be down to the club. I thought we had employed a fitness coach?

I don’t know about 2 centre backs. I thought Thorniley, played in his correct position, had a very good game. I also think Critchley is too obsessed with playing players where he thinks they should play, instead of their natural positions.

THIS Board! Which has become the most depressing, toxic, whingy, whiney moany, petty, overly expectant, critical, cringy, place I know.
Thought it was bad under the Oystons. Too many know it alls, know nothings, trolls, would be managers, and downright gloomster doomsters.
Well you did ask what we were most disappointed in.
What a relief to get all that off my chest. Now I can approach the afternoon with a song in my heart, a tune on my lips and joy within my soul. Thanks. A.V.F.T.T👍

Biggest disappointment has been the start we made, Ok many new players but that is not an excuse for the position we were in after abut 10 games. We had a half decent pre season and should have had a much more competitive start than we did🤬🤬🤬made any chance of getting into the top 6 not impossible but not far of it.

Exactly reason I dip in an out. I hoped we’d have been a bit better but we’re not. It is what it is. Getting rid of the Oyston’s wasn’t going to lead to over night success.

Not even half way through the season yet. Let’s see where we end up in May before writing everyone off

The entertainment levels haven't been as high as I had expected. Our play at times is slow and directionless, not the high energy, full throttle football we were hoping for.

I find this a really stupid comment to make. The club can do all they can when he is with them but what’s not to say he’s comfort eating out of boredom and loneliness. Don’t forget he’s moved to a new club and area where he has no friends. Under normal circumstances he’d be able to socialise but being under all these lockdowns he’s human like the rest of us!

...that said I’d fuck him off at the earliest opportunity as he offers us nothing 😁

Lack of goals. Players like Kaikai have not disappointed because after watching him last season I never expected alot. If we had not signed Kenny Dougall we would be in real trouble now. Hamilton has pace but so did Carl Lewis. I have no idea what the answer is but if the season continues it will be interesting to see if he has more direct involvement in goals than Liam Feeney did .last year.End product is all important.

You may consider it a stupid comment, I don’t. I take on board he may be over eating for whatever reason but I would assume he goes in for training the staff must see him and notice. Nobody goes to bed weighing 12stone and wakes up weighing 13. It cannot go unnoticed.

Those who know the least are often those who talk the most.

Biggest disappointment for me is that there hasn’t been any sign of the kind of football we played against a shell shocked Liverpool in a competitive game. Nothing at all.
