Blackpool Electric Bike Hire

Hi Lee, nice to meet and have a chat on Friday night at the 92 promotion do. Me and Tony have got e-bikes and there fantastic.
I got mine because I started having health issues and Tony used to borrow one from his son who works at a bike shop,
He then took the plunge and bought one. For us they are great as we have a lot of hills in West and south Yorkshire and find we can now manage a 45/50 mile ride instead of 25/30
At my age and condition owning a e-bike is a no brainer
I still take one of my other bikes on holiday with me in the motorhome, can't bear to part with them!
Oh gosh yes if its hilly they must be a godsend. I have had a hankering for one for a while now and hiring those last week has got me wanting one even more

As others have said anything that propels you independently of pedalling ( ie throttle ) or assists beyond 15.5mph is illegal

6 points if caught - 3 each for riding an untaxed and uninsured vehicle

The subtle ones will allow you to keep it legal on the road but give an extra burst of power off-road via an app or equivalent

Personally I think the assistance should be in line with the US at 20mph as many unassisted bikes can go 25mph or more but it's not bad where it is and maybe safer

Currently on a Carrera from Halfords which I am upgrading as I find the range ( 20-23m ) too low around the Fylde where 40-50m rides are easily achievable - though in hilly areas I have been to such as the Dales I find the range is ok as you freewheel more

I think e-bikes are great for getting out and about in windy conditions or hilly territory when otherwise you might not bother Personally though I would want a bike to look like a bike but that's just preference
How do they put 6 points on a licence if someone doesn't drive of have a licence? and yes I like an ebike to look like a bike but for cool cruising I love that chopper look 😎 definitely not the best for a workout type ride but for those I enjoy riding my regular GT mountain bike

I'm playing around with an electric bike business at the moment, been something ive been looking at for about 5 years, electric bikes might be the future of personal transport particularly when big cities are banning cars left right and centre. Got our first prototype arriving in about three weeks.

Where I live there is a cycling club who regularly meet at my local beach bar many of the older members (55 plus) are on really serious electric machines for off roading. Chatting to one guy in his late fifties early sixties who was riding a fat wheeled fully suspended carbon fibre framed monster with a 1000w motor, said it would do 75kmh at a push. I checked on the price after he went - 17,000 euros. but saying that my brother in law has a normal road bike that cost nearly 10k.

good video. ive tried one of those monkey bikes just too small for me.
Where do you live Costero the beach bar is already painting a picture in my mind. Yes I said in the video electric bikes are definitely going to become more popular for local travel as the price of fuel and vehicles continues to spiral.

But for a fun day out with the youngest playing around on cool looking bikes, taking some drone shots, making vids we had a blast it was a brilliant feeling and what a way to see all of Blackpool promenade which is fabulous 🙂👍

And
You said - they felt heavy
Loftyboy - they are heavy around 25 kilo
Looked up average weight of road bike 13 kilo
You are right, nowhere near. The rest of it does not look like a bike, more like a motor bike with bigger frame and wheels, are you going blind.
And when I went to school 25 was not 3 times 13 😉 plus if I ride into someone on my bike it's 100 kilos but if I'm riding a Super Monkey it would be 112 Kilos nowhere near 3 times the weight as you are saying sorry

northern spain not far from bilbao, surf country. electric bikes are all over the place here a lot of them are high powered to deal with the hills, which are effing high, not sure about the legality of them but the police dont seem particularly interested.

theres a company in Barcelona that are making sidecars for electric bikes, which are so cool.

Yes you would definitely need the extra power to get up high hills the police seem to have a sensible approach which is good to hear 🙂👍
Sidecars for electric bikes now that's really cool.

The future of energy for transport is electric and as battery technology improves (hopefully when materials such as graphene etc. are used) the range will improve and the power to get up hills etc. will be standard on every bike then I can only see more people using this form and other future modes of electric transport to travel.

I think its great but for me it's a sunny day fun thing for now and as I have been saying it is a fantastic way to see more of Blackpool promenade and appreciate what a wonderful seafront we have.
