Blackpool improvements - Tons happening

The clue as to the standard is right there...£1 burger place.
That's a purely marketing tool and ots been very cleverly used.

Yes the ares isn't good but it's not really a consequence of tha as it's for tourists, largely.

But it would be good to see that area improved.

Yes, a lot of good stuff is going on. The new tram link is fantastic despite all the naysayers.

There's always arguments about can money be spent better, maybe they can, but all the things coming in will massively help.

It's then about that inner area and tbh getting tough on crime etc. Improve things in the inner area and Blackpools problems reduce.

The only ones who don't like it are the taxi drivers missing out on fares.
But there is always the argument about money, those trees on Cookson Street are great, however cost a lot and maybe there were other solutions.

Still needs far more greenery all around though.

Not entirely sure why the karting went anyway but...

Go karting went because of new tram depot. Whether it was necessary is another question! But I remember when that go karting space was a boating pond

So the house on the corner of School Rd and Common Edge is gone.

I wondered if they'd started whatever they are doing as the roads to St Annes were busy today I'm told. Time for a slight detour next time I go that way & the new road across the Moss.

Not sure if this was posted at the time, glad it was rejected and surely they can find operators for leisure.

Should definitely be entertainment like bowling, trampolining, go karting, crazy golf, laser tag etc etc. There's loads of things it could be.

Looks set to finally go ahead, be a good addition. These shipping container type places are often popular with youngsters and offer a variety of interesting foods.

@AllezBlackpool might be interested.

Steve Thompson said on radio lancs (before the Wigan game) that he didn't feel Blackpool really needed a new training ground now, having seen drastic improvements, following his recent visit there.
Ok for the first team only, but not for an improved joint facility with a higher academy development.

I'd rather the stand anyway, although now that seems to be just an improvement not a rebuild to finish the stadium and give that proper stadium feel, as let's face it that stand brings it down a bit.

However I'll wait until the club tell us about it.

The TG is nice and part of a plan but we'd never see it, fans see the stadium all the time and it's the home you take pride in.

So the stand far more important to improve or ideally finish off properly.

Looks decent. Will look even better ehn the multiversity is done and there's green space outside there too making one big space.

sadly, I have to say, that Blackpool looks worse every year. There's just so much of it which needs flattening. Yes, I know away fans sing it's a shithole but even though it's our shithole they are right. I've recently walked down Lytham rd, Waterloo rd and Bond St and then in North Shore around Dickson Rd and it's bad, it really is.It needs billions throwing at it to get it back to it's former glory. That's the sad truth. And we all know that's not gonna happen.
It's not great but go to Luton or Leicester, Leeds, Nottingham of Lincoln to named but a few..... intimidating shit holes....

As always, a load of moaners on the comments. Probably the same ones who don't want trams going to the station.

My niece is a single mother with 3 children, aged 3 to 12. She works full-time and has been working at Hesketh House in Fleetwood for ages, but is currently allowed to work from home 2 or 3 ays a week. That suits her because it allows her to drop the kids at nursery or school on the way to work. Takes her just 20 mins to and from work.
Now that this shiny, new 3000 seater office is opening in Blackpool many of the offices around the Fylde are closing, including Hesketh House. She has been told she will have to work there and spend more time in the office. There is no car parking for staff and no assistance with extra travel costs. Or any consideration that she will be spending at least an extra couple of hours per week travelling to and from work, when she has got 3 kids to manage. She may have to give up her job and rely on benefits!
What may be good for the centre of Blackpool may not be good for the communities around the Fylde or the people that have to travel there. Big office blocks are a thing of the past, with modern technology and communications. It is not good for the environment either

The blessed Nigel wants to scrap part time working and working from home as woke constructs and has said that should apply to the whole public sector.

Coming soon to Lancashire County Council.

Are they not being offered spaces at Mecca Bingo? Thought I'd heard Mecca are giving spaces to them?

Hesketh House is closing because most of the NHS staff work from home and it was only.mainly civil servants there after Warbreck closed until the new place was open. Can't blame them for closing Hesketh if nobody goes in

The increase of time in the office is a nationwide thing Pete starting from Sept. We go from 40 to 60% of time in the office. We still have office workers contracts, they were never changed to hybrid, so they could even call us back full-time at some point.

I did full-time as a single parent for years, but 2 kids, and it was hard. I hope she gets some support from their father, it’s a brutal regime bringing them up alone and working full-time.
Regarding the car parking etc, I think they are wanting us to use the trams and buses, which obviously most will as there aren’t sufficient parking options I wouldn’t think and it’s very costly.

Maybe it would be worth her dropping a couple of hours a week to claw back some time for the travelling.
I think we’ve had it good for a long time with the free site parking we’ve had for years.

It is the extra time and cost of travelling to and from Thornton that is going to do for her. She has no problem spending more time in the office if it was at the current location. The DWP don't appear to be offering support in terms of relocation of the offices.
Other than some limited financial support, the father lives elsewhere and so provides no logistical help with the children.

She should get travelling expenses for 3 years as it’s a forced move. I think they pay for any distance over what she would travel if she were travelling to her normal office.
That’s a shame re the dad. It’s exceptionally hard working full-time and single parenting, sometimes you don’t realise how hard it was until you look back.
If she reduces her week by say 2 or 3 hours to help with the travel time she will probably get a top up of any wage loss to some degree via Universal Credit. Better than burn out.
I wish her well and hope she finds a way that works ok for her.

The rule is a commute less than 30.mims.os acceptable.
My wife had this argument a few years ago. We had to adapt my hours, get the grandma's to help and mix it up with a few of the kids school friends parents. It was easy to do but that was when everyone wasn't a ** victim.

Some of them are unbearable. All you get is comments like what about the homeless, on stuff that's specific funding and has to be spent on that. Can understand when it's yet another car park... but not good stuff like this.

As mentioned in one of the videos when that other side is done for the multiversity in the same way, trees, landscaped etc, it'll look fantastic. Think this was the final one. That'll be just opposite and therefore making it one big green area plus new buildings, looking great.

In a seperate point the area around Bloomfield will be changing over the next calender year too, with the pitches and similar public realm improvements maybe similar to the west side of the stadium.

That'll look great too and completely change the looks and feel around the north and west meaning no bad side. Currently its dreary around the north and the east is inaccessible and looks poor.

My daughter lives there, she has a well paid professional job.....it's got council estates and rough, rough areas that make central drive look like Knightsbridge.
The city centre, the bright lights are what you see, dog a little bit deeper and it's a dump.....rats everywhere by the way......
It also has some really nice suburbs. I’ve lived in Manchester, Leeds and London and I’d pick Leeds every time.
