The 18-goal forward, who celebrated his 28th birthday yesterday, is out of contract at the end of the season.

He is likely to have plenty of admirers, too, having been strongly linked with a move to Championship side Charlton Athletic during the January transfer window.

Addressing the recent speculation, Gnanduillet said: “I’m happy to be here and I just want to help the team fight back and climb up the table.

“As one of the strikers, it rests on us to score the majority of the goals to fire us up the league table, so it’s time to knuckle down and fight for the team between now and the end of the season.

“I think when you lose a match, your confidence is affected. Then when you lose a few matches consecutively, your confidence really affects things on the pitch.

“You start to overthink things, and take one touch that you shouldn’t, decide to pass when you should actually shoot and things like that.

“I truly believe we are not far away from some big wins, which will then lift the confidence of everyone in the squad.”

Very glad to hear he want to move us up the league. I don't begrudge Armand a move to a bigger club at the end of the season -- that's the way football is. We'll retain fond memories of him.

It begs the question though, if we have a £6m pound forward who has missed two sitters, what is the value of Armand?
