Blackpool v Gillingham Official Matchday Thread 05.04.21

Wish Thorniley would stop thinking he's Glenn Hoddle every time he gets the ball. Nearly all of these long balls intercepted.

Good, calm game management for most of that half. Thornily, apart from their goal, had been sound. Everyone else - bril.
No half-time changes for me.

First game for me where we've looked absolutely full of confidence, like a proper promotion chasing team. Some of the passing was superb at times, knocking it about between players - amazing stuff!

Normally you’d think the game was almost in the bag at 3-1 but I’ll breathe easier if we can either have a barren 45 minutes in the second half or score a couple more. Truly this could end up 5-4. Really edge of the seat stuff. 👍👍👍

Great first half, definitely one of our best attacking performances this season. Hopefully we can keep it up and tighten up at the back a bit. Could really do with another goal to really kill this off as I can see Gillingham getting two in the second half. Though the wind might be in our favour? Couldnt' really tell which way it was blowing, seemed to be going one way at one point then the other later on!

Also very happy with that Kaikai goal! Was great teamwork to set it up and a cracking finish from him should do his confidence some good!

Against the wind second half so will need a very high line. The game's nowhere near done yet and we may need another. We should be able to use the space behind them though as the ball hangs up. I hope he doesn't take Simms off as he's playing well and we need as much physical presence as possible. Wouldn't be surprised to see Ekpiteta in the last 20 if we're hanging on.
