Blackpool v Gillingham Official Matchday Thread 05.04.21

Can you feel it ? The current unbeaten run, the way we are playing, the momentum, the team spirit and togetherness, the ability to swap and change players in different positions, the energy and desire. Like the previous 2 promotions as a fan you can feel something special happening and I can definately feel it now. This could be another very special season for the Pool .

You really couldn’t take your eyes of that match which is why I didn’t post much first half. Buzzing time to go to the pub........ well ok the fridge then.

Wow. Just wow. Overpowered a team who try to overpower everyone else. Could see Gillingham were full of confidence at the start and was wondering why way it'd go after it went 1-1 straight after the Yates missed header, but some excellent movement and ruthless finishing there overall, same as other day at Swindon. Everyone bang at it.

Reminded me a bit of the Scunthorpe home game in the perfect 10 run. Just gutted there wasn't 9-10k there for it as it would have been rocking in that north stand second half.

We need to get to the ground and stand outside for the next game pre and post match. Socially distanced of course. Show our appreciation and passion. Spur them on to automatics
And we watch the game how?

Concerned of south Ribble

p.s. I had thought of a flash mob at a training session a couple of weeks back so I do like the idea, it’s just the execution I’m concerned about

Thought Gillingham were mostly shite, mainly just long balls but you can see it can cause issues and although I say shite I mean their style, still dangerous though but made to look poor.

But we opened them up a lot today and the pleasing thing was the way we kept the ball at times, no rush to blast it forward so it drew them forward chasing the game and then a couple of quick passes round the side and werenin and the kaikai assist and Embleton goal second half epitomised that.

We looked dangerous today and clinical, organised, we pressed, passed, fairly solid and fully committed.

Good performances all round and also Simms played well today unlucky not to score that chance.

Also got to rest a couple of legs later on.

Good stuff.

Joy of Joy's, looks like I missed one of the best performances of the season.
Who bloody works on a bank holiday 😡
Looking forward to seeing the goals later.
Hope more solid performances to come.
#utmp👍🏻
You’ve missed a belter pal .

Another really good all round team performance.

Moment of the match for me was Kaikai setting up Embleton. Not for the move, the skill and pass (which were fantastic) but for the fact he didn't try and smash a goal himself.

All about the team, all about the win.

They are playing for each other and it shows.

Not sure it will be enough this season, not sure we can keep it going until the playoffs, I hope so, I really do.

Meanwhile, nobody is going to want to play us which is a good thing.

thats probably the best weve played this season, against a Gillingham side who were up for it. i did predict that if we could get an early goal it might open the floodgates but i hadnt expected them to be able to score to be honest. that was a bit of a shocker. the Gills shithousery wasnt quite at their normal level but there was still a fair amount of it, and drysdale is an absolutely shit referee.

i actually think there was a gulf in quality today. their guy on the right in the first half looked decent but ballard kaikai and dougal constantly tripled up on him and the other right side player, and gave them no outlet. and when he switched over to the left flank in the second half Turts was just too clever for him.

when we got the fourth thought we might have gone on to get six or seven, but maybe we're saving that for Sunderland :)

Gillingham surprised me first half with their passing football, it wasn't what I expected but it made for a very entertaining game. Second half we nullified their passing game by keeping the ball for long periods and putting them under pressure whenever they had it. Great performance and I'm beginning to feel that we could go on an even longer unbeaten run than any Blackpool team have done before. Whatever happens we now have a team, manager, backroom staff and Chairman to make us all proud of.

Ted Lasso would have been proud of the "extra pass" 😃

Brilliant performance by the whole team ,difficult for m,o,m but i am going for ward ,he just seems to get better and better and seems to make the team tick along nicely, deffo look a better team with him and dougall in the centre,,#utmp

Also Portsmouth have to play 3 teams who are all fighting for 20th spot as it stands. Not an easy task to play against teams who absolutely need a point.

Anyone still not rate Neil Critchley ?
Coming into real form at the right time. Braved the storm then took control.
Best performance of the season for me.
If we keep level headed, we are definitely the best team in this division, upward and onward.
U.T.M.P.
I feel like getting in my TARDIS and going back to early season to give myself a slap round the chops.

My big gripe all season is that we were horrible to watch, well thats been put to bed, it seems since Burton at home second half, the team has clicked. Now were beating teams and entertaining. Well done Critch and Calderwood 👍👍👍
