Blackpool v Millwall Official Matchday Thread 22.01.21

Yep - we all see things a bit differently. For me the defence and Bowler were top class today - smash and grab goal then backs to the wall. Think we'll all heave a sigh of relief once we are officially safe. Survival = major success this year. Onward and upward.

I'm pretty certain the points total we have already will be tough to equal for the relegation slots.

With some astute moves in the transfer window next week we may need to start looking the other way.The gap is narrowing again.

Just needs the goals for to increase.Enjoy

Personally I would have started with Gabriel and Yates but can’t argue that was a massive 3 points. Sterling looked very good at left back (. Garbutt was poor but sorry for him landing badly on the hard surface surrounding the pitch).
keogh and Ekpiteta outstanding. Bowler and Hamilton had very good 2nd halves. Lavery a constant threat. Madine off his game today but played a great pass for Hamilton in the build up to the goal.

Despite the moaning on here I thought it was a solid display. Backline did well including Sterling. Thought midfield was misfiring. Allowed too much space on the flanks. At least Critch didn't try to hang on. CJ and Bowler were threats. I will take the three points thank you.

Millwall were dire. Take advantage of teams when key players are missing - which we did.
Wins a win & probably would put any (if there was) relegation worries aside for this season.

Just wish we could kill teams off

3 points and some positives after a pretty poor match. Thought Bowler continued his development, a really good all-round performance. On that performance he’s worth more than £1m, but I’d like us to keep him.

On the other side, pleased for CJ that he had a good 2nd half, very positive intent from him. The lad needs confidence and support.

Up front looked disjointed, still don’t think Lavery & Madine works.

Kenny was excellent in the middle. We need to sort the other midfield position this week.

At the back Marv & Keogh were very good, and I liked Sterling and Gabriel in the full-back positions at the end.

‘Rum punches’ all round!! It’s thirsty work watching the Pool in Barbados! Soz about that. Dodgy first half, but played a lot better second, always an edgy last 10 mins mind.🍹🏝🏖
Enjoy if mate and bring us some sun back.

Reading the post match comments from Rowett he was saying how great it was that they took nearly 1,000 up from London. Whoop di do.

One of Hamilton's best games that. We really do need to play to his strength which is his unbelievable pace, twice it caused havoc with a ball over the top from Garbutt and Madine's through ball which lead to the winner - no one is beating him in a foot race unless the likes of Usain Bolt signs for Luton.

Madine was immense and and an amazing defensive display from Sterling, Ekpiteta and Keogh. Rewatching the highlights I didn't realise how many chances we actually had, could have easily been a much more flattering scoreline

I'm sure the Fulham game will bring us back down to earth next weekend, but that safety net of 48 - 50 points is creeping over closer!

bullshit!
Thanks for your as ever courteous intelligent reply🥱. As soon as I saw it was you who had responded I knew exactly what kind of response to expect unlike others who do share my view or at least respond constructively.

It seems Neil Critchley has as little faith in Yates as I do as he shrewdly continually leaves him on the bench.I think I trust his judgement a bit more than your never ending, very opinionated, confrontational rubbish.

PS I am sure you that you will also be particularly delighted to know that my horse racing bets continue to go very well showing a healthy profit for the fifth year in a row since I restarted betting in 2018. Happy days ......for me at least.👍
