Blackpool v Peterborough United Official Matchnight Thread 23.03.21

Backs to the wall 1-1 draw, which Witt the current injury crisis against a very good team I will happily accept. Jerry to bag

After the three points on Saturday anything we get tomorrow will be a bonus but even with enforced disruption to the back four this lot are more than capable of another great win.
Luck on the night always plays a big part let's hope some goes in our favour.

Tricky game for us tonight no doubt about that. The league is so unpredictable at times. Peterborough were lucky to get a point against Rochdale, having thrown away a two goal lead, yet still sit second in table. Critch and the lads will know where three points will take us tonight. I’m predicting a 1-0 victory and on we go! 🍊UTMP

Not many were predicting a Pool win before we faced them at LondonRoad.
We dominated that game.

I think we are expecting another “after the Lord Mayors show” performance tonight.
I am going for a hard fought 1-0 win for Pool.

Business end of the season, game against a promotion contender and a chance to break into the top six for the first time this season.

There is a lot riding on tonight; the players will be up for it and so will we.

Play like Saturday and we should be in with a fighting chance of a win, if our standards drop, then we won't.

Every point matters now.

COME ON BLACKPOOL!

I'd take a point quite happily now, but you never know with this team. I was delighted with the win on Saturday and certainly didn't see that one coming. It's incredible that we are still doing as well as we are despite the number of injuries, I fear Ballard will be a big loss tonight. A win would be fantastic but a point wouldn't be a disaster.
If we play like Saturday anything is possible 🤞

There’s been a few games recently people have called 6 pointers or season defining and I haven’t really agreed. Tonight is not the be all and end all and a loss certainly doesn’t really ruin our play off prospects (and I hope people remember that come 9pm.... though they won’t !!) but a win would be absolutely massive tonight.

I was very impressed with our high pressing game against Oxford and the way we stopped them playing out from the back. It goes without saying that such tactics only work against sides which play out from the back. Good homework from Critch and nice to watch. Crewe did the same against us and we struggled to get into the game. We do seem to do well against teams that come at us rather than those that park the bus so I hope the Posh attack us.

A draw would be excellent.

Despite the injuries though, I think we’ve got the minerals to fight anybody and I know we can win tonight.

I too hope the posh attack us, but have a seriously bad day and we trounce them ! However, I would take a point now.

I am optimistic for this game fresh faces coming into the team could help us
win it comfortably Peterborough must have injuries and a loss of form amongst their players
they conceded 3 goals against Rochdale

At last we showed that last Saturday we can play well for both halves and win, so hopefully we can bring that new found confidence and mentality into tonight’s game! So 2-1 for Pool, come on you Mighty!!

Strong Team. Quite happy with Turton playing at Centre Back. His positional play is top notch and Peterborough don’t play high balls so that and his extra pace when compared to Ballard and Thornily should be helpful. Gabriel obviously is rapid too so as long as he tracks back and does his defensive duties well tonight the defensive should be as strong as ever.

Gabriel is also quite good and quick sweeping up acoss the back line.

We're down to the bare bones, but it's still a strong team which shows what a good squad we actually have.

The centre of defence is a worry tonight though - Dougall and Ward will have to be top notch to give them enough protection.

If we go about it as we did on Saturday, I can't see anything but a win. This new formation really suits us and will stop them from playing. I think that they will be happier with a point than us. 2-1 to the mighty. No fuck it, I'm all in, 3-1 !

Doesn’t look the strongest with Turton at CB, hope they aren’t the biggest side.
