Blackpool v Reading Official Matchday Thread 30.07.22

It will be great to be back watching the mighty. All the transfer shit will be forgotten at 3pm and we can watch the chosen 11 plus 5 subs give their all for the fans. Buzzing for the season ahead where a team of underdogs rip up a few of the big boys again.
 
All that matters on the day is how well the team plays and the result. Looking forward to it. Done my pre season by checking my seat last Sunday. As to what the starting line up might be or the score, not a scoobies. As always, hoping for the best and some good luck.
 
I previously said that we only needed a couple of additional players to our existing strong squad, we have got 4 new players, plus Carey & Virtue back available.
I believe we will start off with a good win against Reading & have another good season in The Championship 🍊
 
I’m ready for the new season , Excited, Anxious, but looking forward to it. I only hope that we can create the kind of atmosphere we created last season and spur the players on to a great Victory. UTMP.
 
How do you see us lining up? I would imagine it'd be the below:

Andersons preferred position is at CAM, so I feel this shape will suit him.

Interesting to see the master tactician at work,.will he go 4-5-1 which has been apparent in most pre season games in the first half to me, or the more attacking 4-3-3.

He seems to like to build up play, but mixes the high press with the low block.

One thing that annoyed me with Critchley, that I have seen Appleton team do is defend a corner, with all the.players back, an option even if just a clearance is to have a player chasing the cleared ball down and possible counter attacks.

Leaving 1 or 2 up.surely makes the opposition put less men in the box as well
 
Bloody raining all day now, they’ve been forecasting decent weather for this afternoon all week. How can they get it so wrong with all these satellites flying around?

I dont think bowler will play. Especially if Blackburn have reportedly upped there bud to 3 million which is the figure BFC we’re holding out for.

Tricky game for us Wigan will be keen to get off to a good start

Always nice to get points on the board early

At the end of the day we still have a strong squad and can put out a really good team. It's a real chance for the players who are picked to really show they want to keep the shirt and I can't think of a better incentive than that.

Probably a couple out but you get the drift? Plenty of decent subs too. Gabriel, Husband and Stewart. fit adds even more and 2 or 3 new signings and we will have a new look about us.
 
I think we can put a strong XI out today and do have a decent squad of players to pick from. We’re still a RWB a CM and possibly a winger and a powerful forward away from being the finished article but should hopefully have enough about us to get 3 points. Some of the fringe players who we probably would have liked to have seen replaced may even take their chance to shine and force themselves into the plans before those reinforcements arrive so it’s definitely an interesting and potentially exciting game. My only real concern is at RWB today and if having Connolly playing there is going to impact the balance of the team - thus making life tricky for Thompson or Garbutt too.
 
Madine is gonna score an early header I reckon. Bowler will run riot. Virtue will score from outside the box. And Rhys Williams will round it off with a tap in from a corner.

Well, here we are. The beginning of a new season! Difficult to say what will happen today, but I think it might be a draw. Maybe 1-1. Hoping the lads are ready and up for it though and get off to a good start 🍊 UTMP
 
There I was, looking forward to shorts and sunglasses and now it’s bloody jeans and coat. We’d better win and win well.
