Ten thoughts, in no particular order:
1. Keshi Anderson was outstanding tonight, the best player on the pitch. Comfortably top end championship standard.
2. All the back four were brilliant. We've now played all three relegated Prem sides.....and have three clean sheets. That takes some doing and shows just how well organised we are. Defensively we're excellent, both individually and collectively.
3. Husband - special praise for him because I had major doubts at the start of last season but he just gets better. What a committed player who just does the last ditch stuff so so well.
4. Grimmy. Got a clean sheet however I just felt he was a bit slow to release the ball sometimes considering we were clearly playing on the counter at times. Also I'm not totally convinced on him commanding the area on set pieces. Has done well deputising for Maxwell but I can see Maxwell coming back in fairly soon. Good Keeper though and a great future ahead of him.
5. Bowler. Had a really poor game, even his ability to run with the ball had deserted him tonight which was strange. I think maybe we should give the opposition some credit as they never really allowed him to get 1v1 with the full back. Great option for us but just an off day.
6. WBA were like a better version of Cardiff i.e. big, physical and bullying. The fact that we crumbled against the bluebirds but didn't tonight is testament I think to how we're growing and improving in this league. Our marking at set pieces and determination to win the aerial battles at crucial moments was far better tonight than it was when we lost that game.
7. Critch. Think he got his line-up spot on and his subs too. Sometimes you just have to say the opposition were pretty good and I think the manager gave us the best possible chance of a result tonight with his tactics.
8. CJ. Great to see him back, and even more importantly we saw glimpses of that frightening pace he had last season, that he looked like he'd lost. Disappointing to miss that chance, and let's be honest he really shouldn't have done regardless of him being out for so long. But it's another option and hope to see him back at his best.
9. Dale. I thought he showed promise but just needs to get his head up to see the best options when in possession. I don't know why but I get the feeling that while Bowler is the more 'flashy' player, Dale I think will prove to have the better numbers if given a run in the team. Not saying he's better than Bowler, just a very different type and we need both sometimes to keep the opposition guessing.
10. Fans. A little subdued tonight which was unusual as it was an exciting game. Maybe a few nerves but it was one of those game where we needed the team to get us going (with a goal) rather than the other way round. WBA brought great numbers and good noise too I thought.
