Blackpool v west ham

I was gutted when hearing GTF hadn't made the cut. Wet Spam were so lucky he didn't play that day or it would have been a massacre on the pitch. What a team we had.

As has been said on other threads though, Prem football with the Stains filling every orifice they can with cash, or the reality we have now with a true fan owner is no contest.

Let's build a team to get us to the championship and anything else is a beautiful bonus.

We were comfortably the better side and if we'd taken our chances the game would have been over well before the West Ham winner.

I never realised it at the time but thank God we didn't win, imagine the Oystons having another PL windfall of cash for them to get their grubby hands on?

We'd have been well and truly fucked.

Blessing in disguise

Hope they were watching the tv and crying over the money list

Turned out to be the best thing for both clubs. Shows the benefit of having a killer goal scorer to stick the round thing in the back of the net.
All your dominance counts for zip otherwise

We were shit first half though, lumping balls to KP on his own. Holloway changed it half time and we battered them.

Neil, you'll recall WHU had spent big in the January transfer window in an attempt to win promotion, two of their big money signings were strikers Nicky Maynard and Ricardo Vaz Te and it was the latter who got the 87th minute winner after we'd missed a glut of chances.

It was Vaz Te in particular I was thinking about. Of course Koko wouldn’t take a gamble like that. Not in the middle of Operation Cash Grab

I believe Vaz Te never played for them after that game

It was after that loss that Koko radically reduced the cash spend, and peed Holloway off leading to him leaving within a few months after the start of the next season. Koko finally seemed to realise the role luck plays in football, but it had run out and he wasn’t about to spend £15k/week again on a player’s wages as he had with SuperKP if it would not guarantee promotion back to the Prem. Which, in turn, led to the extreme falling out with VB. So, yes, it was a blessing in disguise, though I did not think so at the time. Was it about that time that someone said “I want the Oystons to be successful because that will mean the club is?”
