Born & bred tangerine

"Right. I had to get up in the morning at ten o'clock at night half an hour before I went to bed, drink a cup of sulphuric acid, work twenty-nine hours a day down mill, and pay mill owner for permission to come to work, and when we got home, our Dad and our mother would kill us and dance about on our graves singing Hallelujah"
You were lucky.

Were you on the run from someone?

Marton Born and Bred 1952. My family have lived here in Great Marton since at least c.1650. I haven’t lived here since 1979 but still retain a very close association with “the village” as the local historian.
My Dad and Grandad supported the Pool and were at Wembley in 1953. My Dad was on the Supporters Club committee around this time.

Born glenroyd 1949 and went to claremont junior and seniors. Lived in Devonshire Road opposite knowle ave and delivered papers for Cains of Knowle Ave seven mornings and six nights for 17/6 85p now a WEEK but great tips at Christmas. Got really interested in the Pool after 1966 World Cup and watched Big Ray Charnley score first goal against Gordon Banks after World Cup. Moved around in job but always a tangerine 🍊 whilst lots of ups and downs watching the Pool has given so much pleasure UTMP.

Not me, born in Chipping Lancs - moved to Sheffield for Uni, and my now wife, 30 years ago. Brilliant place to live.

When my Pool partner in crime couldn't get me a lift to watch games, as a 15 yr old it was a bus to Longridge, then another to Preston bus station.

Then trying to avoid the Moor Nook psychos (the days of 'cha!' for those in the know) with their bum-fluff mustaches and Ocean Pacific rip-offs for 40 mins, then a bus to all the way to Blackpool.

Get beat by Shrewsbury 0-1, repeat the journey the other way, often hitching from Longridge with a can of beer and some fags that some kind soul had got us from the Offy.

Character building and all that.

Glenroyd March 69.
Thornton, Bispham and now back in Thornton.
It's crap round here now. All the fields built on by new houses.
And Robins wood now called Pheasants wood is like being in the Thatched. 10 bob millionaires and up there own arse. Been here 3 months and no neighbours speak.

Carleton CE > Hodgson > Blackpool sixth form > Salford Uni > Job in Portland, Oregon where I married/divorced and have lived/worked for 20 years.

How many of you were born and bred here on the Fylde coast? I was and our saviour Simon was.
Yes born in St Anne's Hospital, St Anne's Road East, 1967. Lived in St Anne's and Ansdell. Live in Cumbria now. First went to Bloomfield in 1974 when sat near Brian London in South Stand. Now a South Stand season ticket holder.

Born St Anne's hospital, which sadly is now over priced housing.

Lived on the coast all my life. St.Annes, Lytham, Ballam , Ansdell, Fleetwood, Thornton.
Born in Preston '76, lived there for almost 30 years, spent the last 18 in West Berkshire and now 2 weeks into living in St Annes, in one of the over priced houses where the Memorial Hospital used to be. 😳

Edit to add:
I appreciate I don't fit the topic but couldn't resist due to the fact I've only just moved into said house. 😂

Not I, born at Tameside General in 79 and lived in Stalybridge for the first 5 years of my life, brought over to Cleveleys then my mum married a Seasider in 86 who took me to my first game. Lived all over the Fylde but am now in FY2

Glenroyd 59

Thornton, Little Baines and Big Baines

Left to go to UNI, never lived there again, just visits to see footy as family also moved away.

Lived in England Wales and Scotland, the Fylde still feels like home, the accents, the banter.

Hope to see a bit more of it when we retire, will depend on how much of our pension is left.

Born 1958
Lived in Layton for 27 years
Wesham for 5 years ( which explains a few things!)
Birmingham for nearly 30

Worrying so many went to Claremont. I had an evening of mayhem along with older kids putting the windows through on the temp building. Played cricket there, golf, football at 10pm in the snow with a full moon.

They really should have locked the dining rooms, thankfully me and Pammy found it open, as was....err...Pa.

Claremont till 18, then away for the 3 years, back to claremont, married, Poulton for a couple of years ( so into themselves) then FY8 for the last ....reaches for abacus......
