A majority of voters backed the UK to leave the EU, a bigger majority if you accept that the 2019 general election was a single issue vote. And recent polls show that, given the chance, most people wouldn’t vote to rejoin, so the subject should have been put to bed by now.

What few anticipated was the degree of animosity and aggression the EC and France have shown in the past few years. Not something you expect from trading partners. However, this would have dissipated long ago if the people of this country had given up their hopeless belief that the UK will somehow change its mind and rejoin the EU. Until then, the Commission and Macron will continue with their cold war tactics and attempted humiliation of everything British. So I agree with 20s. Far too many people trying to undermine the UK instead of backing this country and getting on with their lives. While no political party has a rejoin option in its manifesto incessant whining about the downsides of us being an independent sovereign country is both pointless and pernicious.

In 2019 there was actually a small majority in the popular vote for those parties offering a second referendum, but obviously due to FPTP this did not happen.
I get your drift though. It is over and done with!
 
You back your country when it is morally on the right side.
When it is duplicitous, lying and signing agreements it has no intention of sticking to then it is in the wrong and should not be supported.

Alternatively you could argue it’s the government and Brexiters who continually stir the pot and keep the old arguments alive.

After all it’s the government who refused to implement the NI Protocol they signed up to and described at the time as an “excellent deal”. And who have just rejected the latest EU concessions to waive checks on 80% of goods as not enough. You begin to wonder if anything will ever be enough.

It’s almost as if they relish stoking anti European xenophobia as they know that appeals to a certain demographic in England and distracts attention from the real issues. A bit like the fictional culture wars and anti woke agenda.

An endless “war” against foreigners and “the liberal metropolitan elite” with Brexiters incessantly moaning and playing the victim card.

What a fantastic prospect 😔

Me personally.. nothing much other than petrol (still not with confidence) and a no questions asked passport that guarantees me and my children freedom to go and live and work in 26 different countries. Oh yeah and a few things in the local supermarket that were always there.

Gosh!!! Did they have queues at petrol stations in the US as well and have to call in the army to help out? I don’t recall that being in the news.

And are American farmers in a panic and being forced to cull their pigs because of a shortage of butchers? A crisis so bad that they’re having to try to recruit qualified staff from Mexico and Canada? Must’ve missed those headlines as well.

I could go on but I’m sure you get the general drift.

Don't forget that since July many products from medical supplies and electronics to Burger King French fries, have been missing from US shelves. Major US retail giants have mitigated the supply shortages by chartering their own vessels in an attempt to survive the global supply chain disruptions that threaten to cripple the retail industry's most important season. Walmart, Target, Home Depot, Costco and Dollar Tree have all said they will be chartering their own ships. Meanwhile, on this side of the pond empty shelves are appearing in Brussels supermarkets as supply shortages hit the European mainland.

Latest YouGov polls reveal that 65% of Remainers blame Brexit for the supply chain problems. To prove their case, the left wing media have published an image of an empty UK supermarket shelf. OK I know it's a late afternoon picture of the bread shelf but it gives an idea of what empty supermarkets in the UK would look like if there were any. 😆

Which left wing media are you talking about ? There's barely any and on the other side are the Express Mail, Sun Telegraph and maybe the Times . I don't see why people on here talk about the US when the nearby European states are a better comparison.Im about to go to Spain for 3 weeks so I will see for myself.
 
Well, I am on the ferry from Bilbao to Rosslare after 4 weeks away in Spain and France, and, without exception, my Spanish and French friends now view the UK with contempt and amused disbelief. That a country can sign treaties only to seek to break them, that a prime minister brazenly lies, that a country that was respected on the world stage is now seen as a laughing stock, these are the messages I heard loud and clear. So well done. Not that I really care anymore, you are welcome to your sad little country ( for that is what it now is seen to be).
 
I assume all the remoaners feel where we are now is where we will be in say 5 to10 years as a country ? You are aware Brexit wasn’t for the weekend.

That's funny. I deal with foreign businesses and professionals every day and none regards the UK as a "laughing stock". Even the French seem to sympathise with our cause and to a large extent are embarrassed by their government's anti-British behaviour. Anyway, I think most of us like our "sad little country".

I'm going to Paris next week and have recently been to Spain where I spent the majority of time with Spanish people. I didn't witness any of this contempt you speak about. But I'll keep a look out for this contempt when I'm in Paris.

Just been reading in the MOS about a trade deal about to be signed ‘within days’ between the UK and New Zealand which could be worth up to £9 trillion.

Hope that cheers one or two of the Doom & Gloom merchants up on here although hand on heart I doubt it.

Oh and it’s a non military trade deal so no weapons of mass destruction so it might even cheer the Cat up. 🇬🇧 🇳🇿

The trade deal with NZ is worth £2.3bn. It’s hoped that might allow us to get a toe in the CPTPP which could open up other markets in the Far East.

Good news if it happens but not quite the done deal you’re suggesting.

The trade deal that’s about to be signed is worth 2.3bn but it will never be worth £9trillion which is what you were trying to suggest.

It might (or might not) lead to membership of the larger trade organisation in a few years opening up other markets.
