Brian Barry Murphy

If this is genuine interest by the board. Where does it sit re. Evo and lack of experience, Barry- Murphy has been a manager for less than 12 months.🤔

Hope this is a joke , I am the ones who love Evatt , but said it is to early yet for him , needs more experience, yet rumours are we might get this guy , there is no difference ??
hate to say it , what’s going on ??

Admittedly his record's not the best (P54, W20, D13, L21 according to his Wiki) and Rochdale are 19th in the league, but there's more to a team's success/failure than the manager alone. Maybe he'd do better with a bigger budget and better squad? Who knows? It's a gamble but it always is when appointing a new manager.. look at Jose at Man Utd. Larry seemed like the obvious answer here aswell didn't he

What I don't understand is, if we're now changing tact from avoiding managers in positions to now poaching potential from "lesser" clubs, why did we not pursue Lowe with more conviction than we did.

On the face of it I would prefer Lowe over Murphy.

Sounds like he has the right philosophy: "Of course my friends in Ireland think I’ll be back with them permanently soon, because in England it’s all about getting results and not the way you play, but I’m here to try to prove them wrong.” The complete opposite of Grayson the pragmatist?

Has Jones given an answer yet?

Surely if your going for this type of manager then he needs to be overachieving at his club not hovering over the relegation zone.

Why would you choose him over Evatt though? He's got less than a year's experience as a manager and Rochdale is nowhere near the top of the division. I'm sure the BFC board will be consistent and ruile him out on the same basis.

Exactly. Fewer games in management than Evatt, and no prior connection with the club. Wouldn’t have a problem with the appointment, but no idea how it’s better than Evo

I could get behind it. It's not always as simple as "they're 19th, therefore their manager's crap."

I echo others when it comes to the "why not Evatt then?" sentiments though. Can't help but think the process is all a bit muddled.

But why not go for other mangers then , say example Ryan Lowe , if pool are prepared to pay comp then he must be a shout , and others
surly mentality must be a winning manger for pool at moment , not similar to us , ie Rochdale
chris houghton not doing anything , unless we are to low for him

Interesting comment on Rochdale forum. Ian Evatt was at one time 1/2 nailed on favourite to get the Rochdale job. Where do bookies get their info from?

We don't know how available any of these guys are. Situations vary at clubs. Maybe it's become apparent Plymouth would fight hard to keep Lowe, whereas Rochdale don't have the same leverage in terms of contract, manager's desire to stay etc.

I don't know the ins and outs of it and I don't need to! I wouldn't mind a clue as to why Evatt's been ruled out though 'cos the few snippets we've had don't seem to add up to anything that makes much sense at the mo.

Out their arse sometimes. I remember one time one of the bookies had Holloway as favourite for the Bristol City job.. I think it was SkyBet

He ticks more boxes than Heckinbottom and does seem to have a good football ethos. I don't know much about him but have been impressed by what he has done at Rochdale.

Where do the 'Bookies', or others, get the info that decides on the 'Odds'?
Is someone at BFC telling them?
Or is it just them (Bookies) trying to engender people to make bets? 😕

I'd be okay with him...players speak well of him and his personality, saying he doesn't get hung up on players expressing themselves and making mistakes.... probably very opposite to SG and what is needed at the moment.

evens favourite with skybet

Nixon said a couple of hours ago that Blackpool might start interviewing soon so a couple of names might crop up.

Cant see it if there was any serious interest the odds would be much shorter than evens, someones having a laugh
