Broadband package advice please

Hi I am thinking of downgrading my Broadband/TV/phone line package. I am currently with Virgin Media been with them for years. I currently pay £71.45 per month which is going up to £75.45 per month later this month. I wouldn't mind keeping the broadband as its 100MPS and is great however I have contacted Virgin told them I don't want TV or phone/phone line anymore and they have said it will be £40.00 for Broadband on its own.

That's somewhat annoying considering you can get it from them at the moment for £26.99. I pointed that out to them and they said that's new customers only. I said so would you sooner see me walk away then do me a deal less than £40.00 and they said yes as they can't discount it.

The other thing is if I decide to go with the £40 I will then be in a new 18month contract. I don't know whether to bite the bullet and stay with £40 as the speeds are good and it means I don't have to start switching providers to a Service which may not be as good or switch anyway.

Sky is offering their superfast fibre broadband for £25 but I don't think the speeds are near Virgins. Just wonder what other people thought that have been down that route ? Thanks in advance.

Premier... I won't get into a long do this and that but I will say I only have Virgin 100 meg.. At £29.50..... So you really need to speak to them again and try to get a better deal.... Just speaking to a different person can sometimes sort it.

I've just gone from sky (25mbps and said couldn't get faster) to virgin and its 100mbps for £18.99 for 18 months (no phone line just bb).

With virgin can you not cancel, so you have 28 days I think before they cut you off and like sky will they not give you a better deal? I know sky would but I moved purely due to speed, but I did get my sky tv package down to £15 a month. But even if virgin won't budge you can tell them it was a mistake before they cut you off... bet they do reduce tho if they think you are serious

Are you sure you need 100mps? I used to be on that, but switched to BT when I moved, and went on to their 50mps and haven't noticed any difference.

Just got it down to £62 with virgin from £78/82 after increase. A few less channels, but I hardly ever used them. Haggle.

BT should be able to compete speed wise with Virgin in the future as I believe they are currently upgrading their system.

£40 is a piss-take and once that conversation was over I would have been on the phone to another supplier and that would have been the last penny virgin ever got off me.

Sounds like a plan that. I may try it and see what happens. Thanks.

We’ve just changed our broadband and telephone at the hotel was paying £83 per month. Rang Vodafone and they’ve gave us exactly the same services for £24 per month on a 36 month contract and the first 12 months is completely FREE yes FREE. The £24 per month is inclusive of VAT

I'm with Virgin too and just had notification of a £4 increase.. Just wondered though as I'm sure I've read it on here before but does that not invalidate your contract in terms of time left. After all, you signed a contract agreeing to pay x amount of pounds from a certain date and so that that is what they should charge you.
