Good news didn't last long. They increasingly look dead in the water, certainly as long as Dale has any role in the future. I hope the club can now get on with a phoenix clubs as Hereford and Darlington have done.

Terrible,feel for the fans.

Btw,how do you post so it shows the start of the article like here,as when Ive put links on it just shows it as a hyperlink?

I just posted the entire link address without editing Blossom.**

** have wanted to type that ever since you registered.

There are an inordinate number of scumbag football club owners. The EFL should be disbanded immediately as not fit for purpose, and an entirely new structure put in place. One with stringent rules which must be adhered to, penalties with real teeth for non adherents.

Oh well. Wonder how the dozen or so fans with the “OYSTON IN: FUCK YOUR CLUB” banner feel?

Hope they enjoy their Saturdays in IKEA 😏

Please re read what I said. I hope THOSE fan are suffering
For those fans to suffer, every other fan has to also. What you are saying is just like the people who won’t forgive the mushrooms. We should forget the past and look forward. We are all fans of our respective clubs, and none of us deserve what is happening at Bury. “There but for the grace of god”

Shame for the few fans they had but it wasnt a well supported club...which is why I could never figure out how a “businessman” thought he could make money out of em

I think this is it thought isn't it - defaulting on a CVA will likely bring about liquidation and then the fans can set about some sort of structure ready for the NWCL next season?

Dale is literally the dog in the manger. He doesn’t have the assets to clear the CVA. He paid £70k to acquire £7million of debt from the previous owner just to be able to swing the CVA his way, as a gamble, pure and simple. He is just stringing things out in the hope that some fool will pay him a million for the club and all it has.

But no one will, because there’s only Gigg Lane with a £4 million mortgage on it, at least twice what it’s worth as building land. And because everyone thinks he is a despicable scumbag who should be left to rot away. So, sadly, it looks likely Bury FC will fold. It is worth next to nothing, so only a romantic fool would offer anything that Dale might accept. And even after that, they would have to pay back the debt settled on Gigg.

All the fans can hope for is that the council somehow ensures that Gigg has to be kept for football. Without Gigg, there is no hope of the current club (assuming it did survive somehow) being admitted to the National League. And, if they do a phoenix, that WILL start in the NWCL with at least 10 years of hard work to return to the EFL. But Gigg is key to any future as without it as the rallying point I can see interest just fading away.

Sadly, I can see Gigg just rotting away and growing weeds for a decade or more as shysters argue the toss. Just as Accy Stanley’s old ground did for years after they folded in the 60s.

Good news as at least its a fresh start. Gone down a similar route to Darlington but at least there's hope and a clean slate.

I think the hardcore Bury fans will enjoy it. Will be a tight knit experience, everyone pulling together, every promotion will be felt more deeply than ever.
They've secured a ground too which is critical but that inevitably means the disappearance of Gigg Lane.

A club with history of Bury ought to rise to the top league of non-EFL football fairly easily. Whether they can get back in league is another matter. I wish them well and hope parasite Dale loses his cash and is out of pocket by it.

I am glad Bury are rising again. I hope all supporters get behind this club and help support them up the pyramid and back in to the league. I have nothing against Bury and wish them well. I know some of our fans hate them for THAT Oyston in banner (I was at that game and saw our fans' reaction to it) but that was just a few young chavs trying to be clever and whilst I feel sorry for 99% of Bury fans those involved in that Banner are now tasting karma. That said I wish Bury and all their supporters all the best

This is a common sense outcome and in line with the advice they were given by the FSA and others at the start. It is a shame that time was wasted chasing outcomes that were never likely, and the local MP inadvertently made that worse in his desire to help.

I hope it leaves Dale high and dry ; he is the real villain of the piece here, even if the lack of due diligence by the EFL has been unforgivable. The fact that it is so very difficult to hold the EFL to account for failures such as this one should concern football fans everywhere.

Bury AFC to join the North West Counties league - 10th tier.

The NWCFL will be very interesting next season, not only AFC Bury but also a new club FC Isle of Man, who are expected to join the NWCFL First Division. They have looked at whats happened with both Jersey and Guernsey who both are now in the non-League pyramid.

Can see Bury bringing a few to Blackpool if and when they play AFC Blackpool.

Would be good to arrange some pre season friendlies against local rivals to give them a bit of a head start on gate receipts?

There are eleven clubs who have applied for promotion to the Step 6 in the NWCFL region - nine coming from Step 7 feeder leagues and two new clubs.

To be considered for promotion, a club MUST meet the entry ground grade H criteria by 31st March. They also must finish in 1st position in their Step 7 competition after the current season. If a club finishing in 1st position does not wish to be considered for promotion, or fails the entry criteria, then a club finishing in 2nd position may be considered.

If the club in 2nd does not seek promotion, or fails to meet the entry criteria, then clubs down to 5th position may be considered for promotion provided that they meet the appropriate entry criteria.

Clubs finishing below 5th position MAY NOT be considered for promotion and, ordinarily, only ONE club will be promoted from each Step 7 competition.

FOR THIS SEASON ONLY – owing to the Step 6 restructure, it may be necessary to consider additional promotion candidates on a geographical basis.

The FA Leagues Committee reserves the right to promote more than one Club per Step 7 League and would enter consultation with Step 7 Leagues if this were required.

The clubs who have applied from Step 7 are:

  • Allscott (West Midlands Region League)
  • Ashville (West Cheshire League)
  • Crewe (Cheshire League)
  • Egerton (Cheshire League)
  • Foley Meir (Staffordshire County Senior League)
  • Ilkley Town (West Yorkshire League)
  • South Liverpool (West Cheshire League)
  • Stockport Georgians (Manchester League)
  • Wellington Amateurs (West Midlands Regional League)

Plus two new clubs:

  • Bury AFC
  • FC Isle of Man

Interestingly (or not) most of those would be eligible for the First Division South, and the only three who would go in the First Division North are Bury AFC and FC Isle of Man. And they always lump the Yorkshire teams in the North so Ilkley too (and possibly South Liverpool). But unless they are going to have a fair few teams relegated out of the NWCFL then surely most of those wouldn't get accepted? Unless they are considering another expansion maybe?

They should never have been binned off, Bolton and Bury should of had a season to sort out finances, failing that. Off you go, but of course the murderers. Got a stay of execution thanks to being* the biggest club.

What happened at Fleetwood?. Didn't they start off again in the Blackpool and fylde Sunday league as Fleetwood freeport. Or have I got it wrong and that was a separate team altogether???.

They've reformed after numerous problems with debt, but they are an old established side with a history that goes back to early rivalries with the Seasiders. Just because a team didnt have league status doesnt make it any less important, indeed you've only got to look how some people champion Wimbledons rise through the pyramid to see that.

Good article on Fleetwood itself here which should shame a few who keep knocking the town that gave them a start in life.

Plumbs.. I wasn't knocking Fleetwood had just read the thread about Bury and starting in the NWC and it just seemed to ring a bell that Fleetwood started at the lowest point in the footballing ladder. Was wondering had I got that right or were Fleetwood Freeport a separate team to Fleetwood?.
If it was the case they came up from BFSA to pushing for the Championship in relatively such a short time, then that truly is an amazing football story.

Yeah I get what you are saying. I guess Andy Pilley has played the biggest part in making it all happen. He has pumped cash in to the club. I have played at poolfoot which is an amazing training facility. While their stadium is only small it is tidy. They have to have two half stands due to the Highfield club at one corner, but it is big enough anyway. They really have had a meteoric rise to this point.
