Not going to happen but it shows how unpopular Labour have become in such a short time!

Can we have another vote on Brexit at the same time please.

Glad you think it’s funny, it’s obviously a lot of people don’t.

This might not be happening if Labour hadn’t repeatedly lied, and honoured the pledges they won the election with.

This could escalate.
Please tell me you’ve voted Bendit, that would make my day.

To put it into context 500k is 1% of voters and 380k people registered as Jedi knights in the 2001 census.

I do. I think it’s very funny.

So next General election - all of those that didn’t vote the Government in (which is normally more than voted for them in FPTP) can do a petition and we can go again.

It’s a joke, surely? Nice bit of media fun.

Certainly there needs to be a Brexit reverse vote first?

In what way?

That's not how Parliamentary democracy works.

I agree about Brexit.

You miss the point - this government has consistently lied and already made atrocious decisions which even Labour voters have rebelled against.
The Manifesto is just a collection of lies.
Also remember this shower only got voted in by 33% of the electorate and probably got voted in to eliminate the Tories rather than their policies.

Democracy is hopefully based on truth and honesty, where’s your capitulation with that one?

Already they have made democracy a laughing stock, hence the reaction.

I would also lump Brexit with it too.
Petition for a general election is a complete waste of time, and you know it.

You keep saying Labour are lying. We're in the situation we are because Hunt and Sunak promised all sorts of funding pledges without the funds to deliver, that Labour are now having to keep.

That means that funds have to be raised from somewhere, and it's only right that those who can afford it the most, pay the most, something which is a direct contrast to the previous decade where the poorest paid for tax cuts for the richest.

Unsurprisingly, the non dom billionaires who own the media are whipping up a storm about it, manipulating the gullible.

If you can't see that, there's no point in trying to explain it.

I have voted CS.
I dislike this Goverment intensely at the moment, and it seriously needs to change its leader and certain cabinet members as they will definitely accelerate the demise of the Party.

It might bring the demise early, or after the full term, but it will definitely happen.

I agree with your first premise.
By all means try and sort the finances out ( which they won’t), but don’t lie to the electorate continually.
Tories did, but that doesn’t excuse Labour either, and the sooner you see that through the red mist, then we might have a more balanced conversation rather than your obvious bias.

Let's see where we are in a couple of years.

There's over a decade of damage to reverse before we start to see improvement.

No point in agonising and catastrophising now.

To a point I agree with you (shock horror), but one thing I definitely think needs to be done is bin Starmer.
For me Streeting would be a fair shoe in, or even Rayner is a better politician than that plank of wood.

But you were always going to hate a Labour government. For years and years you repeatedly defended the Tories with “Bliar was worse” and “Silliband/Comrade Corbyn/Lego Head will be worse” and always validated these trite comments with your infamous “now I’m no Tory/politically independent” riders.

For me all true CS. It’s my opinion which is ready to be criticised, which it regularly is by staunch Labour supporters.

What I do try and do is include a lot of fact or sensible circumstantial information to give a balanced argument. People might not like it, but if it’s dissected, it’s there.

The ‘trite’ names are for a bit of light hearted banter and in the public domain, not generated by me.

Can we have a petition to scrap Brexit too. The country voted for both. We can't just keep swapping and changing because a few people are not happy. Lets give a new government chance shall we. We had to put up with the last one for 14 years yet no one said "Oooh" lets have a petition to remove Johnson the man who probably did more harm to this country through Covid and his Brexit lies.

Anger should be directed at Jeremy Hunt, Sunak, Truss, Johnson and Cameron.
To make a load of spending commitments when you know that you don't have the money to pay for it is really bad. But to do so for political advantage as Hunt did is almost treasonous. It's absolutely disgusting, Starmer and co are clearing up the mess. Labour's budget is at the very least costed.
Some people have a short attention span. The truth is that public services cost money. A responsible government will raise that money before spending it. Thank god the adults are back in charge.

People voted Labour because they were fed up with the crap and lies tories had - I always voted Tory , but refused this time to vote for anyone because they are all as bad as each other . We need a new alternative
We need 2 or 3 new alternatives, Reform appeal to disillusioned Conservatives where do disillusioned centre and centre left voters go?

If we do end up in a war with Russia then everyone, including you chaps, will need to get behind the Government. When all said and done we are one country.

Rubbish, most disillusioned Conservatives, myself included, aren't Xenophobic Bigots and therefore we wouldn't vote for Farage and his nasty little scumbags
Thats good to hear so another alternative is needed for sensible Conservatives, the type that didn't want Brexit and are pro business and not obsessed with culture wars.

I hope that is true
Farage is set to make gains in the Red Wall the way things are going. If, for instance, there was a bi-election in Blackpool south tomorrow, I would expect Reform to win it.

The petition is NOT about the past bunch but this bunch. Nor has it anything to do with Brexit or Putin.
Nor is to do with right wing nut jobs or Chinese infiltrators…
“I believe the current Labour Government have gone back on the promises they laid out in the lead up to the last election”

Strange I actually agree with both points of view, those against it and them for.....
Just shows how fu***d up everything is at the moment with politics and how the fact is how your life is going how your opinion can change so radically from one day to another.
You have to give governments a bit of time to make things better or worse, however in this day and age things have been so bleak for such a long time that immediate improvement on one's life if isn't rectified straight away just makes you angry.
As said in many previous posts and I was a dick that voted for it............. Brexit has a lot to answer for. And for the record I don't think the country would have been in half as bad a state as it is in now had we stayed in.
