Calling any techies or computer folk - broken monitor

Morning all,

I bought an ASUS Chromebook about a year ago from Argos.

I was carrying it in a rather lazy manner and I think this has resulted in the monitor being broken beyond repair.

There is a diagonal from the bottom left to the top right of the screen, as if it is broken glass, to the right of the diagonal everything is OK, but to the left it's broken.

I was wondering what the script would be regarding return, replacement etc, etc ?

Will they replace it or fix it ?

Am I best just to give up and buy a new one ?

Its a keyboard and monitor all in one jobby.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank you

It’s a simple calculation really….

What did you pay versus cost of repair

AND

Then is it worth it to replace, with maybe a newer model versus swallowing the cost of repair.

Without knowing the figures it’s a really hard call - sorry 👍

My laptop screen was broken by someone else & the new screen was around the £120 mark fitted, I think as opposed to £500 for a new one. So a winner for me.

Thanks Sooty.

£120 seems steep, the whole thing only cost me about £280 brand new.

Nevermind I guess it is what it is, I just want it sorting.

I have an Acer laptop and the screen was broken, watched a YouTube video on how to replace it, bought a compatible screen off Ebay for £35 and replaced it, it was very simple (and I'm no techy expert) just a matter of removing quite a number of tiny screws an disconnecting the old screen and replacing with the new. I was quite impressed it worked afterwards 👍

I'd take it in somewhere and get a quote and a separate quote to back everything up (if you need it).

Likely it will still be worth repairing if only a year old.
