Calm down folks

Tonight was shite but thankfully a few results went our way. Pompey, Oxford, Ipswich and Doncaster lost, the latter two realistically out of the race.

League One Playoff hunt. Remaining games:

Blackpool:
Shrews H
S’land A
N’hampton A
Donny H
B. Rovers H

Charlton:
Posh H
Crewe A
Accrington H
Lincoln A
Hull H

Pompey:
B. Rovers H
Accrington A
Wimbledon A
Accrington H

Oxford:
Plymouth H
Shrews A
Burton H

Maximum points each team can get if they win all their games:

Blackpool 83
Charlton 81
Portsmouth 77
Oxford 74

Oxford need to win every game and hope the others have bad runs. Portsmouth need at least 3 wins & hope for Charlton & Blackpool go on awful runs.

Charlton have a very tough set of fixtures.
I think Portsmouth have the easiest set
Oxford’s games all winnable but only got 3 left. Tonight was a bad night on the pitch but still very much in our hands

My main worry is can we get into the flow again in time for the play-offs. We haven’t been our best for the past 4 games or so. Think we should change the team up a bit and freshen it up. Looked more aggressive when we changed shape tonight.

Oh do shut up Athers. You only come on here after poor results to gloat at those expressing themselves during and after a terrible performance.

Take your superfandom "I know best" back to Twitter. Jeez. So predictable.

We were shite. We deserved to lose. All I was saying is it isn’t the end of the world. Where did I say I was a super fan? Get fucked

Our last 3 games will see us over the line. Northampton may get relegated Saturday if they lose and Wigan win. Doncaster are shit at the moment and if we can't beat Bristol Rovers then we don't deserve to be in the play offs.
It was a disappointing result as loads of players had really off days, as did the management but it happens.
We go again Saturday against an out of form Shrewsbury.

As I said on the matchday thread, the teams below are running out of games to catch us. It's still in the balance yes, but seventh placed Oxford have 65 and only three games left. They may only get to 70. Portsmouth are a little better but in terrible form. We still have work to do, but I suspect a win and a couple of draws out of our last five will probably end up being enough. I don't think 75 points will be required this season. Tonight's results were very favourable.

You only appear after a defeat. Never after a win. Don't tell people to calm down or anything else - not for you to say how people might want to express themselves. So stop being rude and "get fucked" yourself because you've been called out. Maybe stick to WWF forums.

Busy working so could only catch it on the radio, but it sounded like one of those games.

Notice from the stats we had 7 blocked shots, which suggests they were competing like mad to keep a clean sheet. Just needed another lucky deflection.

Happy to draw a line under it and concentrate on Saturday. 3pts and everything is fine again. The win against Sunderland was more than we deserved, so I suppose it evened out tonight.

our playoff wins have typically come on the back of late runs where we had momentum. This team have not read the script and peaked too early!!

It's easy to get behind the team after a win. I found the performance and the result very disappointing but take comfort from Athers coming on here to rally the troops. Of course, he is right. We will get performances like that due to the heavy schedule but things are looking very good as long as we can avoid a Doncaster like free fall.

Why on earth does such positivity deserve such hostility?

I actually thought this was a tongue in cheek post, didn’t realise you were being serious. Nowt wrong with what Athers posted, poor post and dig.

Regardless of where we finish this season the squad have done fantastically well under the circumstances with covid and injuries
I’ve never known so many players out injured all at once.
if we finish in the play offs then Fab if we finish 7th so be it and we crack on and get automatic next season
Can’t fault the effort the lads have put in this season

Mac, wind it in. He's always knocking around win or lose.

The problem we have is only one, maybe two of those sides are any good. And we can't beat lower table sides.

We have to win our home games. Otherwise we are putting pressure on ourselves.

Beat Shrewsbury and Northampton then we can rest and rotate players. If we go into the Bristol Rovers game needing points, it's going to be tough

We have some strange fans nothing wrong with Athers post. My concern is that there is a team which comes up on the rails and it looks like Charlton. It's Pompey to me who are biggest threat. I now think we will finish 6th just scrambling over the line. I remember the time when Oxford overhauled us but think they are running out of games this time. Up the pool

To be fair its only the perfect 10 where we went in with a 'perfect' record, and we finished 3rd 1 point off Automatic! We lost in the build up in our last two:

16/17 (I know most of us weren't paying attention at this time):

Could do us a favour to lose now, a loss in the last game or the first leg of the play-offs might have rattled us. Now we can regroup and dust ourselves off in time!

Glad it wasn’t just me being precious. I apologies for my foul language and I shouldn’t have reacted like that.

If you follow me on Twitter you’ll see I was pretty scathing of our performance last night. Just don’t see the point of dwelling too much on it when other teams dropped points and we have a chance to put things right on Saturday. Although Shrewsbury are another team we have a horrific record against

They’re on a bad run and not really in any danger of the drop. Doubt they will be as ‘up for it’.
We are in the time of the season - last half dozen matches - that historically produces some weird acca busting results.

Yes he's an opinionated know all. Doesn't like people to disagree with his view. Blocked me on twitter for having a different view.

Only people I block on Twitter are those who I have different political views, racists, homophobes and royalists

Ironic post on your own thread about calming down. No matter, I saw your apology later on.
No, I just want to say that I thought we were all rather sanguine on here last night. We lost, we were poor, we all knew it but there weren't any really big Barnies. The available players did look a bit tired and, I've no doubt, if we had all our injured players available we'd be level with Sunderland and Lincoln. But we haven't and we're not.
I'm content that people had a bit of a moan last night. Now we move onto Saturday and we'll all be up for it. Please though, no passing back to Ballard when we're moving in on goal.
