Car parking last night.

An absolute nightmare.

I normally park on the Travelodge as its a bit quicker to get away from than the council park opposite. It has been , for a few weeks free due to them installing a new system which was in use last night. Similar to the council run scheme you have to download an app etc.

Problem one: the instructions are on boards at such a height and with very poor distinction, particularly when dark, that I, for one couldn't read them and had to seek help. I was not alone in being unable to use the system and a number of people just walked off in frustration.

I decided to use the council car park. Suffice to say that once again it was anything but easy for a first time user. I eventually rang the council and was told there was a machine next to Bloomfield road on which I could pay by card. Great, apart from the fact that the damned thing only gave half of the instructions necessary to obtain a ticket.

After once again ringing the poor woman at the council I finally got my ticket and hot footed it to the ground, missing the first 5 minutes of the game.

Considering that I had arrived at the car park at 18.40, I was and still am fuming.

Why do councils and others install systems that won't work properly in areas they know have a poor reception?

I now await receiving a fine for spending time trying to pay to park my car, and if it comes they can stick it up their Jacksie and take me to court.

Rant over.

It's not the systems, it's user error.
I was informed by the lady I spoke to at the council that they are aware of the poor reception in that area, and once I was given the information by her that did not appear on the machine I managed to obtain a ticket. Is that user error?

Funnily enough, I found the parking much easier last night than it has been all season, even spaces opposite the West Stand. Got away very quickly as well.

I know an Asian family who would normally be happy to let you park on their driveway, but unfortunately they've seen your previous posts so that's a non starter I'm afraid.

So, what are you suggesting in your post? It sounds to me like an accusation of racism. Please explain.

Download the Parking app Curryman! Easy as pie, if you're at Birmingham, happy to set it up for you so you can almost pay in advance in the future?

Just purchase a council pass for £60, no stress.
I bought one at the beginning of the season. Great value.
I park in the Southern area and walk in. At my pace about 6/7 mins.
However, once back to the car, leave to join roundabout for Yeadon Way.
Right of way there so all traffic from the ground etc. has to give way.

I bought the Blackpool fc parking seas ticke from the council for £60, which allows you to park in the car parks by the ground for two hours before and two hours after each match. That avoids the paying problem, but not the half hour at least getting out of the one exit

I found it easier to park than normal on Tuesday night, about 5 mins down the car park by the entrance / exit onto Yeadon Way. Only slight issue was all the PaybyPhone machines were covered up with yellow covers. I had a the ID number of a couple of the machines in my recents on the app so it wasn't too difficult to pay for the parking.

For future reference one of the machines which covers the car parks ID is 803811

No answer from Ollygon I see. Obviously a coward who turns up, sticks the knife in and then disappears.

So I will note his attempt at racism for future reference. Oh yes and I will let my grandkids know, both who have Rashid as a surname.

As for others thanks for your suggestions. I only use my car for night matches as there are no trains back by the time the game finishes.

Travelodge is now £4 for 4 hours midweek, £5 at weekends use the ringo app. It's 50p more than the council midweek, 1.50 at weekends, but far easier in and out, and an hour's extra if you want it pre-match. So 1 til 5 for a fiver, compared with 2 til 5 for £3.50 and half an hour to get out. No chance getting on opposite the west after 2pm. Travelodge car park has an exit straight onto seasiders way too.

I've got better things to do, waiting for responses.

They came here from France, and they're fed up with some "English" having a go at their country and their Government.

They also campaigned against Brexit, so that's 3 strikes - you're out. Better go back to your usual car parking spot.

Your just a bit odd arnt you. What a stupid pathetic point your trying to make.

If anyone is stuck for parking at the north end of the ground the coach/camper van area seems to be used as an overflow now.

That’s bang out of order. If you knew the first thing about Curryman then you’d realise how pathetic your post is.If it was an attempt at humour I would suggest you don’t try again.

bleach, so right.
Wilf (curryman) is a friend of mine and I value his honesty.
I'd have by my shoulder anytime.

Can you use your pass in there? Got one, but first time I parked in the car park it took us 45 mins to get out. Not used it since and tend to park off Waterloo Road.

I'm with Curryman, the ticket machines are a joke! If you've no reception on your phone, it's a laborious job trying to pay or download the app. For the money the council make from parking, the least they should be able to do is maintain the machines that are there.

Yes, it's valid on all council parks near the ground on match days.

reception on match days is always a problem round Bloomfield Road. You can usually solve this by temporarily switching to 3G. Things may be a bit slower but reception will be more reliable.

That might be so, but for a lot of our older supporters, it's a struggle. The last few times I've seen away fans complaining too.

I think the reality is you now need a parking app.
I've got "PayByPhone".
It's dead simple to use (and I'm old as well).
Obviously download at home. On match day/night you can pay in an area not too far away from the car park, where there is WiFi, if that's a problem.
And if you get kettled again on Bloomfield Rd and you need to extend your stay it's just another couple of taps on your phone.

I use Paybyphone too. And I'm also old. I use it everywhere nowadays. The fact that you can extend if you get delayed somewhere is excellent.

Oh and BTW on Tuesday it was only a quid in the car park for 3 hours. The council is supporting cheap parking over Xmas.

Simples.

New broadband company that has sponsored the pool, are apparently installing something to help with reception.
