Seems a perfect fit from Luton. Bolton have submitted a 300k bid we surely should too!

- winger
- up and down but has a lot of flair which we now lack
- impressed at Fleetwood
- affordable
- will have ties to the area from Morecambe and Fleetwood

Perfect footballer's name.

He’s more of an out and out winger so curious how Evatt will use him in a winger-less system.

Think if this was Critch Mach 1 we’d have been all over it but with 3-5-2 there really is no need for wingers.

That does make me worry about any potential Plan B though if things don’t go well..

Plan B will be 433 and ** it long to 3 strikers

Would like to think we have a better plan than that, hopefully we won’t have to see.

Last time Critchley was here it was very easy to go from a failing 4-3-3 to a 4-4-2 since we already had the wingers, now if 3-5-2 fails the only winger we have on the books are Dale and CJ.

Under Critchley last time we didn't really have a plan B

It was very much 442 or a more defensive 451

Critchleys a big believer in players being able to play and cover multiple positions - if we were to switch to a tactic which required wide men I’d expect to see the likes of Lyons, Gabriel, Thompson, Virtue, Joseph, Lavery etc supporting Dale and CJ. Also Apter and potentially whoever else who comes in.
He won’t just throw them into it though like Appleton did when playing Yates and Ward at RB - he’ll work them on the training ground first - such as with Turton who went from RB to RWB to RM to CB to CM and never really looked out of place.
Lyons, Gabriel and Thompson absolutely possess the ability to play in the wide forward roles if needed.

In the Championship maybe, but in League one our first 10 games we tried a high pressing 4-3-3 that failed, which is when we went 4-4-2 with Madine up top with Yates which is when our season turned around.

I look at the squad now and don’t see the same ability to adapt to a new system if needed, but like I said above hopefully we won’t need to change systems this time around.

Agreed

Say what you like about Critchley, but he managed us through a league 1 campaign where we had 15-20 different CB combos due to injury.
And we ended up getting promoted with no-one playing more than 34 games bar the keeper.

Are we gonna have more posts on Carlos Kickaball than on players who we were actually interested in and went on to sign?
