First half we looked wide open, not helped by gifting the opposition two goals. Even so, we squandered two or three great opportunities that we really should be scoring from.

At half time WHUSC reminded me that if we scored first we'd be right back in it. So it proved, as roared on by the crowd, we upped the tempo and looked so much better for it. We started to win the ball in midfield and created pressure.

When the goal came it was because we wanted it more and forced the ball home. Similarly, for the second, we had bodies in the box and forced them into positions they didn't want to be in.

On another day we could have won it, but equally Maxwell made a great save in the 97th minute from a needless corner.

If we play with tempo, sides will struggle to live with us. Be brave.

Just a word on the referee. Think we had 4 booked for minor tackles. They may have got one. Can anyone explain to me how the last man taking out a player isn't even spoken to, as we continued to play on? Surely he should go back after the event and at least book him? Plus, how many times did he allow their players to kick the ball away or walk off with it before kicking it away? Weak officiating.

All in all, a richly deserved point. We can build on this. Up the Pool.

Tempo. Definitely. Cheers for your thoughts. 👍

re the ref we won 20 fouls they won 9 fouls 4 bookings to us 0 bookings to tem so they committed double the fouls and received no bookings ref was definately a homer Bowler was repeatedly fouled by right back and he wasnt even spoken to and agree with the last man incident too

It doesn't bode well when a ref can be such a homer at the least intimidating stadium in the league. Let's hope we get a tougher referee for our visit to Millwall. He'll need to be.

Shades of Coventry as well, first half we deserved to be losing but had a couple great chances we should have put away. Second half we looked miles better but gave ourselves too much to do..

If we'd started better against Coventry we could have easily got a point or even 3, if we started better against Bournemouth we could have bloody won. If we can get over starting poorly and going into half time trailing, the wins will start coming - sounds a bit like last season!

A very accurate mane succinct match report

therefs have all been a joke - our pen should have been at least a yellow
Our knob led player stretchered off he played on and it was a blatant foul another yellow
Jerry being hauled back first half when almost going through another yellow and the card count
4 nil to us - we deserve 3 points for winning that
Unbelievable —— wait for Millwall !

Think you’ve called it well there Wiz.

The goals conceded showed the worst of us; slow and sloppy passing and passive and weak defending. Once we got on the front foot and took the game to them - whether going forward or getting closer to them when they had the ball - we really came into it.

There’s an element of us needing to get more cute and streetwise. The yellow cards thing epitomises it for me. Get in the refs ear and basically do all the shithousery stuff that we often fall foul to. It may not be nice, but I’d rather win games than friends.

I’d add that in the 30 mins Lavery was on the pitch, I can see why there’s a buzz about him. Reminds me of DJ the way he gets across and hurries defenders.

Completely agree with your last comment about starting poorly.

In one aspect we may end up losing games due to being over run early doors and conceding, however for me, Critch is showing how he (and the team) grow into the game, adapt their tactics and eventually get on top of the opposition. This has happened on a regular basis for a while now, and if we can start dominating games earlier, I reckon we will be more than capable of holding our own in this league.

In Critch (and the boys) we believe

We've actually started all the games ok, but then lost our way after 5 to 15 minutes. Possible exception of Cardiff, can't remember the start of that one? We've pretty much had a bad 20 to 30 minutes in the first half of each game. But we did well second half against Coventry and even better yesterday second half, where we actually got on top of a good Championship side.

The ref thing is reminiscent of the Prem season. It's like refs have a seniority thing, where newly promoted clubs get second class citizen treatment. We need to turn that round somehow.

Remember in the Prem after the Man City home game, a ref visited us & told us that we are a little naive , if we want to get a free kick then we need to go down. Think from memory Ian Evett claimed a free kick on the edge of our box , but stayed up they went onto score ?

I totally agree as this is how we developed last season i think when we get couple of key players back and possibly a loan or 2 i can see us more than holding our own

Wizz 👍🏻

Apart from Bowler giving them the corner in the last minute I think we dominated the last 15 minutes at least. They never got the ball during that period of play .....

I thought it was Connolly, but it was on the far side of the ground.

I thought it was a dive, tbf.
I watched it a few times and he did go over..... more through momentum though. He didn't complain or claim for a penalty, he simply tried to play the ball whilst on the floor....which he managed to do by getting it out to Yates. I think the ref thought he was coming it. The ref was wrong imo.
