Tc, thanks for this, sounds good. Just to save you replying to the same question loads of times could you give a brief piece on charity supported, distance of the ride, times etc. Cheers

Cheers CGP1......OK

The Sponsored Cycle is between Morecambe FC to Blackpool FC on Saturday 24th July 2021.

I am funding a 53 Seater Coach and a Luton Van to transport Bikes for 30/40 Cyclists, picking up at both The Armfield Club & Thatched House leaving Approx 7.30am & 7.45am respectively to arrive at Morecambe FC around 8.45am for a 9/9.30am Start.

The total distance is approximately 40 miles there will be a Support Vehicle for puncture repairs and a couple of spare bikes so cyclists can keep moving whilst the repairs are being undertaken.

There will also be Approx 8 miles stages where water & snacks will be available.

It is anticipated that the cycle including stops will finish at 3pm at Blackpool FC.
It is hoped to meet about 800 yards away from the ground possibly “The Magic Carpet” so we can all finish together for a team photo arriving under a finishing arch.

All cyclists must be competent on the road and be responsible for their own fitness levels, safety wear, condition of bike and will be asked to sign a disclaimer before taking part.

In order to fund raise as much money as possible a suggested donation of £25 per cyclist is suggested but not compulsory.
However, all cyclists will be encouraged to raise sponsorship with donations made directly on-line by a link that will be set up.

The The Registered Charity we are raising funds for is The Richmond Fellowship Charity No 200453.

The funds will go to support all the 4 or 5 Blackpool Mental Health Crisis Centres such as the “Light Lounge” on Whitegate Drive & “Sycamore House” around Warbreck.

One of the BST Committee works for this organisation and we have gained assurance that despite being a National Charity all the money will be allocated from this event direct to “Blackpool & Fylde” Projects ONLY
(The majority being Blackpool).

More details about The Richmond Fellowship can be found on RichmondFellowship.org.uk

The Cycle Ride has been integrated with The Thatched House Annual Charity Cycle that in the past I have done for Breast Cancer Now in 2018 & Prostate Cancer in 2919 in memory of my late partner who sadly died in 2017.

No event was undertaken last year due to Covid-19.

This Event is being 100% Supported by :

The Armfield Support Group
The Armfield Club
The Thatched House
B.S.T
M.S.G
P-L-F Seasiders
The Tangerine Knights

Blackpool FC
Blackpool FC Community Trust have also both kindly offered assistance.

In addition to the Cycle Ride

A Fundraising Supper Evening will be held at The Thatched House Poulton on Wednesday 21st July 2021

Also a Grand Draw will be held at The Armfield Club after the bike ride has finished on Saturday 24th July.

May I take this opportunity to thank the “numerous people” from all the above groups who have already provided amazing support in order to make this happen.

OFFICIAL PROMOTIONAL POSTERS WILL BE UP IN “The Armfield Club” & “The Thatched House” early next week.

I REALLY DO HOPE THAT ALL BLACKPOOL FANS WILL SUPPORT THIS EVENT / THESE EVENTS FOR SUCH A WORTHWHILE CAUSE.

MENTAL HEALTH IS AN ON-GOING ISSUE IN SO MANY PEOPLES LIVES, EVEN MORE SO DURING RECENT LOCKDOWNS DUE TO COVID-19.

Please ask any questions either on this forum or contact me directly by email : ash.knowles@btopenworld.com

Kindest regards.

Brilliant, thank you. I do hope I can make that, fairly certain I can. I'll confirm with you one way or t'other asap

Count me in Ash, I'll send you an email. But I'll only do it if everyone wears lycra and ride 5 abreast to piss Mosser off!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I have just received some good questions here are my answers.

1) No you don’t need a racer, I’m doing it on a Hybrid fitness bike.

2) I am planning as quiet a route as possible but all cyclists should be competent on the road.

3) It will NOT be a “race” ideal pace would be average of 10 miles an hour.

4) I would anticipate the average cycling time start to finish to be 3hours 30/45 minutes.

5) To some degree we will try and wait for each other at the water stations those who want to keep going may do so but risk not having full maintenance support.
