Chinese persecution of the Uyghur community

Some very sobering stuff exposed by the BBC today.

These are the times when having the best independent news broadcaster in the world is a real source of pride.
Shame the BBC haven't been interested in reporting the truth about China for several decades and curious that they are targeting them now. I suspect it has something to do with China's support of Russia. Regardless, it is nice to see these abuses finally being exposed by the mainstream.

If you think the BBC have been ignoring this issue you just haven't been paying attention. Your choice of language is curious too - describing people who are almost certainly guilty of genocide as being "targeted" , for example. It makes them sound like victims.

I've just posted on another thread about how refreshing it is to hear news channels like Al Jazeera report on global events while the BBC drones on about partygate day after day. Uyghurs? BBC is light years behind. Independent BBC? Never in a million years.

Al Jazeera independent. Comedy gold.

Correct, I recall Farage being on Question Time at least once a month.

It's called the British Broadcasting Corporation and you're wondering why they focus on a big government scandal? Listen to the world service though, you'll probably get more variance.

A truly remarkable run, I've often wondered why?

For many, many years he was the only anti-EU voice we would hear on QT. Just about every other panellist from the political class was cut from the same blue and yellow cloth.

The fact that his opinions chimed with the majority of the wider population was probably very, very good for viewing figures as they'd go up by 52% when he was on.

I don't think there's anything more to it than that.

For many many years he jumped on any bandwagon that would give him publicity and hence coin. He was never deserving of being a regular on QT, his constant pre referendum Norway bullshit showed him for the shyster he is.

Do panelists get paid for QT, I've genuinely no idea if they do?

If they do, then I think it's a bit odd and unfair to have given him additional air time; if it's about his views regarding leaving the EU, then I think it's fair enough.

Stop being obtuse, I've no idea if they get paid and that isn't the point. He is a poor man's agent provocateur, jumps on anything that will pay. If you have any confusion on this matter look up what he's been up to the last couple of years. Do you think he was actually bothered about the EU? Being the "rebel" against the mythical establishment is a well worn path, it hits a nerve and can be lucrative, the bloke couldn't give two hoots about the EU other than it made him semi relevant.

He has a German passport as a mark of his anti EU stance...
