CJ Hamilton

I liked him on the right wing (he gave their full back a torrid time yesterday), and I think he will have more opportunities to use his impressive pace on the wing rather than in the middle where it's bound to me more crowded. I would prefer to see Kaikai to be given a more central role where his dribbling skills could do a bit more damage IMO

I know left back are generally slow boats but he's got so much pace he'd lick 99% of all centre half's in our league.

His reputation at Mansfield was apparently that he was good on his day but quite inconsistent. We have not had him here long enough to know if that will continue.

As for playing him down the middle I saw one friendly perhaps Port Vale where he was extremely dangerous running at their defence but when clean through one on one with their keeper twice he failed to convert.

Surely Kurious you would prefer him on the left!

Well his finishing is improving, look at that goal he scored against Everton..great finish!

With the right service, balls between the opposition back four he'd be in on goal with room to spare. Could be our 20 plus a season man.

The Mansfield fan on the Seasiders podcast reckoned CJ was most effective when played down the middle. Surprised me but that was his opinion.

You know what he drifted into the middle a couple of times on Saturday and looked threatening, the thought did cross my mind aswell. I think he is comfortable cutting in on on his left foot and getting a shot away from the right hand side but definitely an option. Actually late in the second half we had Kaikai more central back to goal and he was creating good chances with the little flick ons. Get Hamilton in one on one with them and he wont be caught.

The most exciting player for a while...his pace is electrifying...need to keep him in games as he is really really dangerous and hard to mark

Probably most effective on the right were he has the option to cut back inside as well as to get to the byline. If on the left the right back would just try to get him to go inside every where he wouldn't offer as much as a threat.

Assuming Critch will follow the Liverpool style then all 3 will rotate around each other.
It’s common to see Mane and Salah in the central role with RF dropping deep

He needs more end product and more consistency. He's 25 i think? Will his end product suddenly improve now? He's been a full time pro for maybe 9 years, working on his game. Hopefully Critchley can straighten these things out. If he does, his sell on price will be in the millions I should imagine, in today's market.

Inconsistency is rather like disease that can’t be shaken off. Scrafton gave CJ an 8 out of 10 for his efforts at Stoke. I would have given him 9 for the first 20 mins, 6 for the next 25 mins, and about 2 for the second half, when he disappeared out of the game completely. That is reason that he isn’t playing in the PL. He blows hot and cold, even in the same game. I can see him being used as an impact Sub, brought on after an hour or so.

Until he took the penalty on saturday didn't realise he was naturally left footed. Could be one of the reasons his end product from the wings isnt always top notch but seems pretty natural on his right side as well. im surprised with Kaikai being comfortable with both feet and CJ that they dont interchange a bit more.

Second half Stoke had at least two players on him anytime the ball went near him. should have cleared up a bit of space elsewhere but we weren't able to benefit from it.

Sounds like a Raheem Sterling in progress

About 60-odd years ago, Pool were away at Burnley, who put two men on Stanley Mathews with orders to follow him everywhere. After 10 mins, Stan took up the position of Left-Back in Pool’s defence......with two men still marking him. This left Burnley without a Left-Back, AND their Left-Half ( their second man) in their Defence. Pool poured through, and were four up before the plan was abandoned. One wonders why CJ didn’t do something similar ??
