Clotting

I’ve had slight concerns but not enough to stop me going for my second dose when the time comes.
I have a late family member who had thrombosis and fall into the category mainly affected by the post jab clotting, age and gender wise.
The odds are still overwhelming against anything untoward happening though so I’m putting my fingers in my ears and carrying on regardless.
Good luck with your second dose 👍

No, and I will get my second AZ jab in May. The number of cases are miniscule and there is still no proven link. Our local Director of Public Health has said that the number of blood clotting cases locally has actually fallen since the vaccination programme began. Women on the pill or HRT have a far, far higher chance of blood clotting

Not put off at all, the risk of catching Covid is far far greater than the risk of getting a blood clot the link of which is not yet proven. 30 cases against 18+ million AZ vaccinations 🤔

That's my sort of odds, and I don't bet.

Crazy scare stories are having an impact, and the impact is that avoidable Covid deaths are happening across those countries where Politicians have slagged AZ off. There are no statistical differences with other vaccines and clotting, yet no one is talking about them.

There is other medication, most noticeably the contraceptive pill that has a far higher risk to blood clotting than the astra zenika jab but people still take that willingly.
I suppose that the scaremongers have to cling on to anything and everything to try and stop/derail the vaccination process going through smoothly.
I'll be getting mine at the end of this month and whilst there are concerns over taking any medication, as Lala has already said I feel the benefits far outweigh the risks👍🏻

Indeed, I can't help wondering why AZ is being placed under so much scrutiny. My intuition is as follows;
- Every AZ course of jabs administered at cost price costs one of the other big pharma companies something like 10 or 20 USD in pure profit
- Some politicians want to discredit AZ and the UK's vaccination approach because they have made some massive and deadly mistakes in procuring and delivering vaccines for their own populations
- anti-vaxxers want to disrupt the vaccination programme

In the UK there have been 7 deaths from 18 million vaccinations and it is unclear how many of these 7 are above what would normally be expected. These odds are almost negligable, it's sort of like never leaving your home in case you are killed in a car accident (except that these odds are far higher) - a risk but a very small one.

The list of side effects for the medication l take very occasionally for diverticulitis is eye watering but l don’t bat an eyelid because l know it significantly reduces the terrible pain l get. All medications have side effects but because the AZ vaccine is ahead of the game in hopefully reducing Covid infections it is getting some bad press, that’s not to say that these linkages to blood clots don't need investigating they most certainly do.

And then of course, the chances of dying from an accident in the home is greater again.

I'm booked in towards the end of May for my second jab, just in time for a promotion celebration 😂

No it won’t put me off. Listening to the radio this morning though it does sound as if the type of clotting they are finding is very unusual and perhaps not generally found at such background levels in the population?
Possibly HM Gov’t has been being economical with the truth upto now?
Arguably that was possibly required under the circumstances?
The balance of risk in favour of the vaccine is still massive.

It won’t put me off my second, but whatever people’s views on this, it can’t be ignored and needs further investigation.

And you're actually more likely to get hit by lightning at 1 in 500k.

I've not had any reaction at all to the second Pfizer jab by the way, there's a lot of scaremongering and bollocks out there about anything if you want to find it desperately enough.

I've had the AZ jab for my first and I won't be getting put off having the second, 1 in 600,000 I think was mentioned on the news last night, I wish the reporting of this made more of the low risk figures, that doesn't always seem to be the case, I think the numbers for clots after the Pfizer jab are similar but nothing ever seems to be said about that.

As Lytham says, you can find enough bollocks about anything if you look hard enough.

I'm wondering if there might be Russian/Chinese involvement as well.

They both want to use the vaccines they have developed as strategic tools, Ox/AZ is a clear threat to that objective, thus it would make sense for them to undermine it whenever possible.

An article on the subject: https://www.politico.eu/article/russia-coronavirus-vaccine-disinformation-sputnik/

A big day today for the AZ vaccine, with the EMA to decide on its efficacy after further criticism. Following its announcement, EU health ministers will meet later today to determine whether the AZ vaccine should be abandoned. The UK's MHRA will also make an announcement later today. The EU is now in total chaos, with eastern member states acquiring vaccines outside of the EU and now Spain secretly obtaining Sputnik V jabs from Russia.

Whichever way this goes, it's looking bad for the EU. If AZ is banned, then there will be a dearth of vaccines for EU countries to use, the virus is likely to spread, economies will remain in lockdown and protests will escalate. If the jab is given backing, people are now so scared of it because of the propaganda they will refuse vaccinations, leaving them unused and the countries still in a mess.

The UK's so far smooth roll out only compounds the EU's problems and even the EC, France and Germany heaping blame on the UK isn't going to persuade the citizens of Europe for very much longer that we are to blame for their predicament. The best outcome is for the countries to give unqualified backing to AZ and make it clear that the risk of blood clots is equal to one person in a city the size of Lisbon or Manchester. Otherwise this problem is never going to be resolved.

Yet there'll still be these here clamouring to go on holiday to the EU as soon as possible, like frickin lemmings.

I’ve been hearing more rumours about the AZ vaccine being for over 30’s only, I am 28 but I’m still gonna have it as I’ve took the AZ vaccine first dose anyway

Oh what an irony it is now the UK faces banning the AZ jab for certain age groups after all the political froth we saw on this board when France and Germany did the same.

The data is for England & Wales to 19 March and shows the total number of deaths by age group with Covid on the death certificate.

The key point is that 175 people aged 20 - 30 and 615 aged 30 - 40 died as a result of Covid in the pandemic.

So even in the least at risk groups the risk of Covid far exceeds any possible risk from the vaccine.

You'd love it wouldn't you. You just jump on anything negative about the UK whilst continuing to defend the absolute hash your beloved EU have made of the vaccine rollout. Have you ever thought of getting some counselling for your continually negative mindset?

You're much more likely to die in a car crash on the way to getting the jab.
I didn't know there were stats showing how many people had died in a car crash on their way to getting the jab? Jeez, it's unfortunate to die in a car crash but to die in a car crash on your way to getting the jab is really a double dose of bad luck. Where did you get this stat from, fy8?

Apparently “Every 37 seconds someone in the western world dies from a venous thromboembolism (VTE)”*

After 18M AZ vaccinations and only a handful of blood clot incidents which may or may not be related to that vaccination, you could argue the case that the AZ Vaccine is a blood clot preventative!

I was sick as a chip after my first AZ dose, but I’m looking forward to my 2nd dose at the end of April - I might lose another half stone to boot!

You are looking very stupid with this comment now, are you not Mr. Doom&Gloom.
It's not me that looks stupid. It's those that kept saying France and Germany were making their decisions based on politics, not as I pointed out on numerous occasions, based on a lack of scientific test data for certain age groups.

Now the UK is following the same path as France and Germany, it will be interesting to see how this is viewed by those so critical of those countries.

You can’t stop making a fool of yourself can you?

The MHRA/EMA compare the rates of AZ versus PFizer and there were statistically more cases in the AZ cluster

No he can't cruzzer. He must be absolutely gutted to see how badly his beloved EU has managed the vaccine rollout. So much so that he resorts to lies to try and discredit the UK. He's floundering and looking increasingly more stupid and desperate with every post.

Had my second AZ this morning, didn’t feel a thing and feel fine. This afternoons news is that under 30’s will be offered an alternative, not that they can’t have it.

The fact remains that because of the behaviour of Merkel and Macron and the language they were using to put fear into their respective citizens by banning the AZ vaccine against the recommendations from the WHO and the EMA, it may well have cost lives far greater than those who may have died from a blood clot the link of which is still not yet proven.
