Club World Cup

FIFA are throwing a $1,000~$3,000 per ticket Club World Cup ‘official celebration’ party, giving you the chance to throw some shapes on the dance floor with Gianni Infantino.
You'd make it all back in free cocaine and bribes (allegedly).

That man really thinks he something special doesnt he. Who would actually want to meet him?

I loved the women's Euro last time. I guess I'll enjoy it this time if England are doing well.

Obviously I don't make the horrible error of comparing to the men's game which is about as futile of comparing League 1 to the Prem or Champions League.
If you're pleased watching a poor standard of football (non-league at best) then fair enough.

Funny all the womens game bandwagon jumpers. Nobody gave 2 shits about it 15 years ago. I guess it's like wearing Crocs now.

Each to their own like

Weather delay in the Chelsea game with 4 mins to play. Over an hour delay

Sign of issues this time next year?

Apparently this is common at this time of year. Any lightning strike withing a 10 mile radius stops the game, which is understandable, but imagine this in a world cup final.

Another delay. Plus they need a 15 min warm up. What the hell are they doing now

Imagine another bit of lightening after 10 mins of warm up. You'd get the Benny Hill theme tune going. 😀

… and if you are wondering why Chelsea and Man City are there .. surprise, surprise ..

How does the prize money work?

If Manchester City win the tournament they would land about £92m in total - but Chelsea would earn slightly less.

The potential prize money was initially reported as £97m but the exchange rate between US dollars and British pounds has changed since then.

Teams get a participation fee for playing, which for European teams varies depending on "sporting and commercial criteria".

City's fee is the maximum of £27.9m. Chelsea are on the upper end of the scale but do not get quite as much, BBC Sport has been told.

Both teams qualified for the tournament by winning the Champions League in the past four seasons.

Teams from North America, Africa, Asia and Oceania get just under £7m, with South American clubs landing about £11m.

City chucked a few quid away last night. 😮😀

After a long season do clubs need this extra competition, city probably relived to be out

There we go, Musiala gonna be out for months with that, if not till after Christmas. His foot looked like it was hanging off, clearly broken.
Could be out for a year if its as bad as it looks. Pointless competition and Bayern could have lost one of their best players for the whole season and Germany for the world cup.

Early lead for Chelsea - but fluminense just got a pen.

Ok game.

Edit, common sense, no pen. It would have been very harsh.

Is this shite still going on? Surely will be ditched after this flop?
Although I agree that it should revert back to its original format it isn’t exactly a flop.
Nearly 71000 there last night.
It was inevitable that it would be an all Europe final.
Chelsea v Real Madrid/ PSG is surely worth a watch.

I think in terms of viewer numbers it has been. I read that some games have had less than 10m viewers world wide, which is really poor. They also had to sell tickets for less than £10, to get people to the game yesterday so thats not been a good look either.

Well done to Fifpro, the players' union, for their scathing assessment of Infantino's vanity project.

The tournament.....took place under unacceptable conditions, with matches being played in extremely hot weather and at temperatures that put the physical integrity of the players at risk.
You can no longer play with the health of footballers to feed a marketing machine.

Its July 14, the season starts in a month. When do Chelsea players get a break, or do they go straight into pre season training?

What's the odds on them complaining about being tired come November.

I think it was said last night that they are now having two weeks off.
