Cods at the Wombles

The point is I think Wizaard is their still 8 points above us so something must be going right at Fleetwood love or loathe them.

I hope your right time will tell but we have to
Improve a hell of a lot more than today against what was a very poor team it has to be said.

72 or 88, I've been at Highbury when they have had a smaller crowd than that.

The town doesn't really support them, because it is in thrall to Liverpool and Man United. It always has been, in my lifetime. There are other places just like it.

They're operating at maximum output as high as they've ever been in their history whilst hemorrhaging money backed by a wealthy benefactor.

We've just ended a 10 match winless streak and are trying to rebuild after years of turmoil and asset stripping.

Yet they're only 8 points ahead of us in the league taking 72 fans to an away game.

They'll never be our rivals. Ever.

I see it's the same spiteful, childish behaviour over here on the new site as it is on the old one.
Why the silly obsession with Fleetwood's away support?
And just remind who it was who said not too long ago that Fleetwood would never be in the same division as Blackpool?

It's an upgraded forum. It's not a new site.

Suppose the likes of Sunderland and Portsmouth will think the same about our support.
It's all relative to size.
Small towns the size of Forest Green, Burton, Accrington, Fleetwood & Morecambe are naturally going to get small support, that's obvious.
Anyway, it's been great that we played Fleetwood these last 2 seasons, as the fixture has brought the Blackpool fans out in their droves, and boosted the coffers.🙂

Yawn - who cares!

Why the Fleetwood love in - I couldn't care less. May as well post how many over 75's visited Stanley Park yesterday.

Fair point. That said the rise of the Cods -indeed other clubs elsewhere - makes some of the accusations thrown at other fans hypocritical.
The inverted snobbery ethos that exists in some quarters states quite categorically that people should follow their local team, but when they do with a club like FT it draws rancour and criticism.

If we were to go back to basics as it were, then fans who were raised and schooled in Wyre should go and support the Cods, but they seem think they have a mandate to pour scorn on their community enjoying a modicum of success.

Very good Plumbs. I take it Layton don't have a team, so you had to go for another one beginning with an "L"? 😀

I’d be taking the piss out of any club that only took 88 away. Just so happens to be Fleetwood or happen to be quite close to us. Any club with that number of support (or lack of) won’t get very far

There's only one reason and that's down to our failings under Oyston. Without them Fleetwood would have had an even smaller fanbase.

Correctamundo and one with an appropriate acronym for their long standing community fans group😎

But they might still be in the same division as there's no guarantee that we would have stayed in the Championship even had the Oystons gone. We might still have gone down to Div 1. I just don't get this childish obsession with Fleetwood's support. Man Utd get bigger crowds than Blackpool. That's how it is in football. Bigger and better supported clubs, smaller and less well supported clubs.

Mild piss-taking is hardly obsessive. I thought it was what football fans did to one another.

The only people who seem to get exercised about it are those who are determined to see the best in our neighbours and think the worst of us. That seems much odder behaviour to me.

[/Q That's part of the reason why the two clubs are in the same division

There isn't only one reason though. Yes the failings under the Oystons have contributed to Blackpool being in Div1. But they may have ended up there anyway. But the other reason is Fleetwood's rise up the leagues. That's also a reason why both clubs are in the same league. Surely you can see that? Or is your hatred for Fleetwood causing so much bitterness that you can't?

Agree with Rusty some people on here really need to drop this pathetic attendance thing with Fleetwood.
Of course their never going to be a well supported club because the town has a 26,000 population for Gods sake, seriously how many do people think they should be getting at home games 10-12k? because that would be like us getting 45,000 every week which is just impossible.
I sometimes wonder if they wasn’t doing quite so well would the interest still be there in their low crowds? I somehow doubt it.

The only odd behaviour i see is more often than not you BR,i for one am a Blackpool fan and always want us to do well, but will also give credit where it’s due,and Fleetwood certainly deserve some credit at the moment.
