COLIN BELL RIP

Pinched by City from under our nose.....but what a player and well done to them and a genuine legend.

Quite possibly my favourite none Pool player and would have been much more of a legend but for injury.

RIP fella.

I remember being on my way to Bloomfield for the Jimmy Armfield testimonial and Colin Bell pulled into the players' car park in a white Ford Capri. He was mobbed by kids with autograph books.

Remember watching him and Summerbee in the City team in the 3-3 draw in the 1970 season as a very young lad. They were super stars then - straight out of the `Shoot!` magazine I got delivered at the time. Also went to the City away match that season (2-0 defeat) but not sure if Bell was playing.

Marvellous footballer.

RIP...

When we sold Bally we offered £42,500 -for him city came in with £45,000.
Top player a class act.
RIP
I remember this very well, it was March 1966 before the World Cup when Colin Bell almost joined Pool. This was 5 months before Alan Ball joined Everton and I was looking forward to seeing Bell and Ball in the same Blackpool team. Blackpool were in Div 1 and Man City were in Div 2 In the 1965/66 season. Joe Mercer and Malcolm Allison were in charge of City and it was Allison who convinced Bell to join them.

Think BFC knew Ball was going and wanted Bell. Man City outbid us. Billy, an oldish guy round by me with some human difficulties never tired of telling me what a player Colin Bell was. Not sure it was to wind me up, but he was right of course. RIP Colin. RIP Billy.

Absolutely one of the very best players of his era. If it hadn't been for a knee injury when he was 29 he would have had a few more years at the top and City might not have gone into decline.
Definitely one of City's best players ever, maybe even the very best.
Rest in peace Colin.

Very sad to hear and I know the City fans will be very upset-a fantastic player for his club and country.
Another reminder to some of us from a certain generation that we're getting older, and it so sad to see all our heroes passing away.
I was only thinking the same the other day Plumbs. When icons from your era start dropping like flies, you start trealise how old you are. RIP Colin a fantastic player in his day.

Yep RIP.

Was a distant relative of my stepfather and remember via this and that person getting a signed photograph of the whole team in the mid/late sixties.
Would be comfortably up there as one of City's all time greats easily making it into their best ever eleven.

More sad news. RIP.

I went to Maine Road in the mid 80s several times with my City supporting friends. To the tune of the verse from Yellow Submarine the Kippax used to sing Number 1 is Colin Bell, Number 2 is Colin Bell etc.
