Colin Calderwood - Welcome aboard

I think Coach Calders will be able to perform the role of tactics sounding board/ball breaker/motivator whilst Coach Critchers focuses on team selection/final decision making and media. Garrity can probably move cones around or something.
I like that take on things👍 Abit concerned about having 2 assistant coaches though,
Think we should make Garrity Head Of Cone Development! 😂

It does seem now like if this doesn't lead to an upturn in results then Critch and Garrity are finished.
But, I am glad they've gone down this route, because it shows they have acted when clearly something isn't right, whilst at the same time still giving the process they set out to initially implement the time to come good.

Personally I’m not convinced by this move at all.

It just smacks of being somewhere half way between a real decision.
If Critch is the man then stick with him, he chose Garrity to be his assistant. The gaping holes in experience were there to see but it wasn’t sorted at the time I.e. before pre season.

If Critch isn’t the man shake his hand say thank you and move on, no one man or a project is bigger than the club.

If Calderwood just ends up being the caretaker manager in a month or two then I’ll find all this ridiculous.

Time will tell of course. It could be a stroke of genius. Past evidence regarding this sort of stuff isn’t filling me with confidence. Not having a pop you might well turn out to be Bob on.

Something just feels off with all this to me.

People are forgetting that CC is largely washed up. Yes he could be a good appointment as an assistant but I think in appointing him SS has already jumped the shark so to speak.

SS will soon have a reputation for not being a stable chairman (if he sacks NC of course)

Washed up or not, the players are in for a culture shock as to how he handles them as opposed to lovely Neil. That in itself might get some arses properly in gear on its own.

If results dont turn around in the next few games then there must be a chance that NC will go and CC will become "caretaker manager"

One question I have is how many Blackpool fans would have chosen or been happy with Colin Calderwood as the new manager had Citchley been dismissed????

Although he may not be a shoe in for the job IF it becomes available, with such a lot of quality managers out of work at the moment he would not have been my first pick.

I hope it works out and it will be nice to see some passion and animation on the bench instead of the arms folded, chin scratching approach of SG and now NC.

People are forgetting Critch came to club with Dunn as an assistant already in place and then lost him when the Barrow job came up. Dunn was never replaced. There’s always been a vacancy in the backroom staff which needed filling. People are also assuming Calderwood wants to be a manager... yet he’s spent the majority of his recent career working as an assistant to a young and relatively mild mannered manager called Chris Hughton... working at some huge clubs with big expectations.

Assistant and Newcastle, Norwich, Birmingham... A job as head of youth lined up at Northampton...

Yes he had spells as manager at Forest, Hibs and Cambridge but that wasn’t THAT recently.

Maybe we are a big club with big ambitions which has exactly the sort of manager which needs this sort of assistant.

Everyone is assuming it’s the end of Critch or that this is done without his blessing. Maybe the club have just made a smart and shrewd move bringing in a vastly experienced assistant into a vacancy that was there for the filling and only did so when someone considered appropriate for the job became available.

The elephant in the room is whether Critchley will listen to him or blank him. If we see CC putting out the cones and not standing next to Critch during the game, we'll know.

Maybe, just maybe , Neil Critchley has identified Colin Calderwood as the person he wanted to replace David Dunn, and the board of directors and the owner Mr Sadler have supported him with this appointment, not gone behind his back and appointed a successor, just my opinion as I am not itk

Good appointment, but completely undermines Critchley. I’m both happy, and worried in equal measure.
How do you know that NC didn't actually ask for a 2 I/C.
Calderwood has slipped under my horizon so I don't know what he's been doing, and how successful he has been.
