Comic relief...

Yes, if the govt can give handouts to people who have no intention of ever working they shoulf find money for everyone and anything that needs it. Charity involving handing over money should stop.

You'd have thought they'd at least have given Lenny Henry some canned laughter .. his gags were awful.
It could probably now work without the TV show .. I bet very little is made on the actual night as no bugger is watching!

One of last night's features was a man in Glasgow who became addicted to Cocaine. It cost him his home and his relationship with his daughter. Thanks to support from clinics and other groups he cleaned himself up and now, back with his daughter, runs a support group for addicts, including a free-meals burger-style van for addicts and rough sleepers. The Red Nose charity helps him to keep his support group going.
That was one of many good news stories last night and not one of them featured a hand-out to someone with no intention of ever working.

The Govt should fund the support group fully, not rely on the publics cash.
It's a good idea in principle but a) the government never will, it barely wants to feed schoolchildren let alone charities and b) the charities would rather the government weren't involved.

I've not watched it for years, it never was very funny to begin with, although to be fair that is hardly the point.

Drama channel for us. You can't beat a bit of Hetty Wainthrop, as Jim Bowen almost said.

I don't normally watch it but this year me and wife tuned in. It was OK, harmless stuff re. the celebrity jokes and sketches. What were really inspiring were the features about real people and the way they were helping others or achieving for themselves. The Kenyan woman with 3 kids now getting a chance to go to college. If she qualifies she doesn't want to be a celebrity, she wants to be a plumber. Great stuff! The lad with no legs walking and canoeing. This is better air-time than a lot of the reality TV stuff imo.
Also, the celebs did well: Davina McCall has been impressive with her charity climbing in the past, even Paddy McGuinness came across OK.

That's true of all governments mate not just the shower of shite we currently have.
