Consultation on the BBC licence fee

Voluntary subscription just wouldn't work. It would water down the product and then people wouldn't subscribe. Also the BBC's remit is to inform and let's face it there ain't many other broadcasters that do that (The Masked Singer and Love Island .. please!).

The fact is we are all contributing to something very British which is revered around the world and through the World Service gives us a valuable platform. Yes, there are probably better ways of sorting it out (maybe a banding system) but please let's not throw the baby out with the bathwater.

9 national TV channels (plus regional) 10 national radio stations (plus 6 regional & 40 local), Sounds, iPlayer, largest news gathering organisation in the world, 6th most visited website in the UK.

All for a cup of takeaway coffee

Netflix spent £15 billion on programmes last year and didn't make anything that could touch a BBC documentary off BBC 4

Personally I think the BBC will die if they go ahead with paying for a TV Licence.
I can afford one but many people can't.
I should add that I worked in the Public Sector for over 49 years, so I deserve a 'freebie'.😜
