Just seen a post on socials saying they have stopped fans going in prior to the game for eats/drinks ?
anyone else shed any light on this as seems a strange decision to say the least ?
I went in o my a couple of times last year but apparently quite a few used to go in ?

Im guessing it may be due to away fans going in at that end of the stand and they also look like they will be using the south east corner for away fans this season and with it being right in front of the corner flag venue it could lead to problems.

I really hope this isn't true.

My family go in there before and after every game, I decided to get my 2 young kids season tickets for the first time with the intention of joining them in the Corner Flag so they don't have far to walk
it’s only what i’ve read on that X mate so maybe a pinch of salt or maybe true

I know for a fact from someone who works there that there’s no food etc in the corner flag before games and that the smoking area part is being used for disabled away fans

Awkward isn't it now away fans are to be housed right in front of the Corner flag.
You either close it,let away fans use the facilities or like corporate does at 3pm roll the curtains across before home fans get in.

Did the person you know indicate if it will be possible to get a drink in The Corner Flag prior to and after the game ?

I thought the club didnt have anything to do with the running of the hotel and had leased to Radisson or Hilton or someone.

This offer plus a match day ticket is £84 and you get less than the Matthews lounge and you have to leave to go to your seat.
The club appears to be only concerned in trying to make the normal supporter who wants a pre match drink sitting down and talking to friends take their business elsewhere.

It's utter madness, they tried similar before and it didn't work so reversed the decision, unfortunately quite a few old regulars then didn't go back.

We know of quite a few groups (including ours) who go in before for a few drinks and food, then back in after the game for a few, they won't be going in anymore! I wouldn't mind but they've got plenty of lounges now so why mess with the Corner Flag when similar hasn't worked in the recent past?

I bought my 5 year old and nearly 4 year old their first season tickets as the Corner Flag was perfect to take them somewhere nice before and after the games, get some food and it's not very far to walk to the turnstile. The Armfield is great but they're too young, then other pubs either aren't the best and/or they're a bit far to walk for little legs.

So now it's either a pub near home and a last minute bus/taxi or a contact the club and request a refund. It's suddenly become much more of an effort for me.

The whole Lounge/Corner Flag situation is beyond belief, piss-up and brewery spring to mind.

The people running Hospitality must PNE supporters because they are certainly doing BFC no favours !!!!

WTF is going on ?

A season ticket refund because you cant go for a drink in the Corner Flag ?

Am I reading this right ?

Read it again. It's suddenly become a complete ballache for me taking 2 young kids. It was one of the reasons I got them their first season tickets, the sheer convenience of the Corner Flag.

Don't think so as they always closed the blinds during a match .Think you can go if you have pre booked a pre match meal. The team have there

The Bloomfield social is decent for kids and now serves food. Big lounge at the back and beer garden at the front. Takes us 2 mins from there to the ground.

Does that include after the game or is it some sort of corporate lite for before only. The food is decent in there but I’m not sure that’s going to work on a match day. It’s usually very busy before and after a match even though so many people don’t even know the place exists. It’s never been marketed properly just like the other two lounges. I did suggest to the club they do a video of all the lounge
Areas as videos hold people’s attention more than words.

Bloomfield roads needs a proper sports bar as part of the stadium, like many clubs have.

Yes there's external options, but something like Bradley's bar at AFC Fylde. The corner flag is a bit more restaurant like.

The Bloomfield club let kids in. They started serving food in there too (cash only)

To answer your question, I m not sure if it includes access after the game - I would assume no, however i would assume people can still access as normal after the game even if you have not had the meal. ( better communication from the club would benefit all)
I also believe that the club does not promote the other lounges that are on offer. Over the last three months there has been other threads regarding the Heineken lounge( now the San Miguel lounge) Steve the SLO also got involved with promoting. If fans want to go somewhere for a quite drink to talk and discuss football etc then this is a great venue ( please don't start moaning it costs £10). For the cost of £10 you receive a free pint and pie which equates to approx. £8. The lounge can be used from 12.30 on a match day and is open until 1 hour after the game has finished. They also show live games prior to the 3pm kickoff. The lounge last year was under utilised, it was easy to get served at the bar and seats were always available. ( again don't moan about the cost of the pint at £5,50) There will be some fans that like this type of venue at these costs and some that would prefer to go to local pubs at a cost of circa £3.50-£4 - we all have choices - AVFTT readers, don't be negative about other fans choices.
You are correct in saying the club could promote these venues in a more positive manner. I also suggested to the club different ways they could market these venues better, which I'm sure fans would support more and which would increase numbers and increase a better financial turnover for the club, meaning all are winners.

Lets see if the south stand fans can support this venue in number this year

I was one of the fans adding a Heineken Lounge season pass to my season ticket for last season as well the previous two seasons.

Last season the club increased the cost by 50% from £10 per match to £15 per match, the drop off in attendance was dramatic and it only increased after the club realised their error and reduced the price to £10 per game.

As a result the numbers using the lounge increased but certainly did not return to the levels of the previous season, I’m sure the reason was because fans had got into a new “prior and post match routine”.

Did the Hospitality Team take notice of this and adjust this seasons pricing ? …….. their response was not to review the pricing policy and up the marketing of the facility at a slightly increased price, but to just announce it was only to open for selected games.

The selected games were going to be “high demand” games, I did ask a member of the Hospitality Team what constituted a high demand game and the response was “I cannot divulge BFC operating policy”…… I see the first home game has not been seen as a high demand game, if the first home game isn’t a high demand then WTF is ?

There is now the issue with The Corner Flag and the refusal to allow supporters to use the facility before and after the home games …………….

During the close season I have posted numerous times regarding the Heineken Lounge, emailed / spoken to people in Hospitality and spoken the SLO & BST members but to no avail, it seems to me the club decided a course of action and under no circumstances are they going to change.

I am impressed with this summers player recruitment and the improvements made to the ground, but unfortunately I and a number of fellow regular “South Standers” are very unimpressed with the way the Hospitality / Marketing Team have conducted their business in regards to the Lounge / Bar Facilities at the back of the south stand.

Finally ……. COYP!!!!! …… and I hope the club buys Tom Bloxom a pair of new calf muscles ……………

The lounge is open for the Huddersfield and Bolton games so far .

If we are talking about the South Stand lounges why is Huddersfield a high demand game, I would have thought there will be no additional supporters in the stands than would be for the opening home game ?
Probably more to do with how many they bring, which shouldn’t effect the lounges in the south stand

What I think has happened regarding the corner flag is that it was previously told it was not able to do the buffet option as it was taking money away from the hospitality side of things at the club. They then practically sold out tables for the season, selling the food from the menu. The club got whiff of how well it had booked up and then decided to not allow them to do anything as they believe they are taking guests from hospitality.

For me this is very short sighted when the revenue for the hotel is profit and the club and hotel should be treated the same.

As much as I am annoyed about this decision, firstly I feel for the staff in the corner flag who will now likely lose hours.

Re the San Miguel, is it open from 12.30?.

Booked it for my lads birthday for Cardiff but the tickets don't include any info, and I can't see anything about times on the website.

Can't remember if it was 12.30 or 1 last time I used it.

Clearly make more money from the hotel or is breakfast served so late they can’t turn around a new menu?
No, they use to serve food and be very busy on a match day.

Unfortunately, I am led to believe that the football club felt it was impacting the hospitality that they offer so they pulled the plug on it.
