Coulson

He’s alright. He tries. But you’re not getting promoted with him on the pitch.

It’s become abundantly clear that our recruitment in all areas is an absolute mess and our entire set up is questionable, I’m sick of hearing we are so “unlucky” with injuries, it’s been about 5 years now where half our team is made of glass. Whole club needs looking at, especially these clowns Downes and Winter (get out of our club).

Coulson used to be good at going forward, he could beat players and deliver a decent cross. This season he seems to be mirroring Husbands performances in that position, half way line, stop and pass it back. I could see Evatt today getting frustrated when he did it numerous times today. Don't know what's going on.

I thought Coulson did ok today. Most of our problems come from a lack of movement in front of players on the ball. Coulson worked hard, got into decent positions, but there were no options so rather than lose possession he had no choice, but to go back. There are a few players in our team that are a lot worse e.g. Hamilton, Hanson and Ithekwie.

Not getting promoted? We aren’t staying up with the likes of him on the pitch

When was he good going forward exactly?

Not one player can hold their hand up & say they had a reasonable game , they were absolutely diabolical , but can’t understand why they thought Igweke (you know who I mean) being a big strong centre half who likes to mark a big lump ,could handle a diminutive winger ,with a low centre of gravity . We could all see that was not working as early as their first goal.

Ihiekwe has the mobility of an oil tanker and he was responsible for two of their three goals today. Other teams are targeting him with speedy wide men and he needs dropping

Undoubtedly not a right back, especially in a back three.

But he was bought as a centre back (where he plays and specialises) & after a bit of a familiarising “shakey start” was doing ok there.

Even “put his neck on the line”….literally !!

I think Coulson gets a lot of undeserved criticism. To me he brings effort and energy to the Team. He’s been played out of position often but has always given it a go. I know he missed a great chance on Saturday but at least he was in position to take it. Unlike others, his head didn’t go down as soon as we conceded.

What is his position?

I like the lad, but there is a problem there.

I agree with what you say but there are always times in a match when he flatters to deceive.

He had no one to.pass too with no one making space going forward what is he meant to do.
Maybe if we could pass clinically , stop head tennis, run into space and press better , maybe we could do better. Theres no composure or ability in passing or controlling the ball. Evo has a lot to sort out
Brown made a number of runs in front of Coulson ,but did not receive . I like Coulson ,but because he has made one or two mistakes that have cost us in the past I think he is scared of giving the ball away.

He’s a left back. Pure and simple. A defender. Not a wing back, or left midfield. I think he’s scored 3 goals in about 170 games. No surprise therefore he blazed over the bar on Saturday. It’s not his fault if Evatt thinks he can charge upfield, thread defence splitting passes or score more than a goal every two seasons.

Interesting that. I personally don't see him as a defender...doesn't mean I'm right. Perhaps I should look back at his early career and see where he was selected. Sometimes players get evolved into something they're not. A bit like Jimmy Anderson in Cricket where he was selected for England and they coached a new technique into him, which failed. I digress......

I nearly spat my tea out. A left back. You are talking about Coulson aren’t you. Yes everyone is entitled to their opinion but I’m sorry yours is just wrong. The guy hasn’t a clue how to defend he is tactically naive and incredibly weak. You should analyse some of the chances we give up when he is playing at left back. 4.5k a week, no wonder all football clubs lose money. He is a squad player to inject a bit of energy at the very best/kindest I can be at this level. There is zero chance Blackpool get promoted with him as primary left back. Pure and simple a shocking take

Sorry for making you spit your tea out. You may not think he’s any good as a left back but that’s exactly what he is. If indeed he isn’t good enough then he shouldn’t be selected. Not encouraged to be an even inferior player trying to be something else.

If Coulson is anything specific i would say he was a left wing back, unfortunately he has no pace and can rarely beat a man.
Full marks for effort but i see him as a squad man who might be useful off the bench sometimes.
My biggest concern now would be possible inflexibility from Evatt, playing Ihiekwe right of a 3 is a disaster waiting to happen.
The line-up on Saturday had so little attacking threat in it and was defensively shaky, should've gone 4 2 3 1

BPF
Lyons Casey Horsfall Ashworth
Brown Evans or Honeyman (any 2 from 3!)
Banks Fletcher Hamilton
Bloxham

Not amazing but puts everyone in position and wouldve provided more attacking threat.
