County Championship set for epic finale

That is the three Division One games done and dusted and here is how the table looks following Warwickshire's win over Yorkshire:

  • Hampshire 58.5 pts
  • Warwickshire 55
  • Lancashire 54.5
  • Nottinghamshire 52
  • Yorkshire 41.5
  • Somerset 26.5
Just 6.5 points cover the top four - it couldn't be more exciting.
The final round of games start on 21 September and they are:
  • Aigburth: Lancashire v Hampshire
  • Trent Bridge: Nottinghamshire v Yorkshire
  • Edgbaston: Warwickshire v Somerset

A win guarantees us at least 2nd place, then it'll come down to who gets the most bonus points for the title as I can't see Warwickshire losing. It makes for an exciting round of games.

Out first innings against Somerset could prove to have been very important. There were not many batting points scored in our Division in this round of games and we got most of them.

Great coup for Aigburth to get such a big game.

Aigburth has the game because the Courteneers are playing a gig at Old Trafford on Sat 25th.

Capacity at Aigburth is being limited to 1500 because Lancs haven't arranged for the normal temporary stands to be installed. There is no information on the Lancs web site about tickets.

I have every sympathy for Lancs about the farce of the India test match, but on many day to day issues they appear worse run than many National League football teams.

I have done a previous thread on this - where did you get that table? It is not showing on the B B C site or the the ECB.

You can find the table on the BBC website. However I am not surprised you didnt spot it, as It’s the fourth table down the list!

I put an explanation of how the County Championship works this season on a thread entitled “Cricket Bachelors Degree” in the last couple of days.

I follow Lancs action group on Twitter , you probably do too because your information ties up with theirs. It's hard being a Lancashire fan at the moment with the lack of respect for county cricket and the way the club treat supporters. Keep playing at Sedbergh in Cumbria is annoying as well.

Yep, follow Lancs action group. They make a lot of good points, and the way Lancs membership numbers have declined in recent years tells its own story.

I thought it was interesting when Lancs were in Nottingham the other week how they highlighted Trent Bridge as a ground, County friendly for members where Old Trafford is a Test match monster!

Went with a mate to watch Lancs at Trent Bridge few years back. Really friendly stewards who didn’t mind you popping into the pavilion for a look round at their history, which of course made you well disposed to spending money there. Its amazing what a friendly attitude to fans can do…

To be fair, I've done the same in the old Pavilion at Old Trafford during a county game.

it is showing on bbc website. Just go to the tables. The first three tables are the groups before the split and the next three are the groups after the split. It's bang up to date.

Certainly not beyond the realm that not being allowed to bowl at Headingley (in 25 degree heat) due to an injury to Yorkshire player in the outfield could cost Lancs the title. Had they been - it would be in their hands going into next week's matches.

They still do that at Trent Bridge for county matches

Never had any trouble getting in the Lancs pavilion when I wasn't a member. Just time it right. I totally hate caravan food and beer so trying was always the priority.
