Cousins

.... my parents where both only children.. born in the 1930's when birth control wasn't like today and big families was common.. hence I've no cousins which is rare ... my girlfriend has 17
 
I thought it was something to do with our cousins across the pond. Sad though to have none, although I had five, never met or heard from one who was born in America and only saw the other four a cou of times when I was young. No idea where they are now.
 
Mind you, the wife has 7 brothers all with children and lots of them, and most of those children have children. I’ve got four children and 12 grandchildren. A bit overwhelming for an only child which I am.

I also have a 2nd cousin in USA.
Been to stay with them 3 times. They have a lovely family of three girls, went over for ones' wedding a few years ago.
Great family, cousins' husband is first generation Italian of immigrant parents.
They live in a very small Town called Leeds in NY state middle.
Husband was going to buy a gun last time we went. I asked him why and he said
'To keep the Bloody bears away from his garden and Bee-Hives..
Apparently they come to plunder.
They live in an avenue which is a about 200 yards long, with only 5 separate house space about 20-30 yards apart.
It's nearest town is Catskill, where Mike Tyson used to train.

Actually, I disc another cousin when I had a go at ancestry with dna. It turns out my dad’s sister, before she moved to America, had a daughter. Situation was, in those days have a child outside of marriage was a no,no, especially as her parents where strict catholics. So they sent her from London to Taunton to have the baby, which was then sent to barnardo’s and then adopted.

Know Taunton very well.
MrsDPs oldest friend went to work there many years ago and we visited at least once a year.
Unfortunately she is now in a home because her memory etc has gone.
She is now 96.
