One minutes its going to be gone by August according to vaccine chief..

Next the re opening is going to be potentially halted by the newer Indian variant, did people not consider the variants 4 days prior on the last article.

There's one thing the vaccines being less effective with the anti body response but the belief is that they will still protect from serious illness which is all that really matters. Antibody effectiveness may be down but there is hope that t cells are still fairly effective.

Variants could go on and on so its time to largely live with it as we cant keep shutting down.

It begs the question how and why is the variant here so easily, where is the quarantine from India and how are other variants being allowed in with seemingly such lax border controls and protocols.

It should have been relatively easy to keep the UK tight and get rid from within until more are vaccinated but no doubt people will have been allowed back from there before it was deemed a place to quarantine from.

It really shouldn't be rocket science to implement the necessary controls.

People should have been told abroad holiday's this year are a no no, UK only, so we can get rid of whats here and keep anything out until its gone and completely open here plus it would have massively boosted the economy.

Yeah it a kick in the teeth that us having to stay home and stop going to safe things in some numbers like football etc when we have had people bringing variants and more covid in, undermining the hard work and sacrifice here.

Completely counter intuitive.

Some of the rules have seemingly been made up as they go along and at times flipped on their head.

Like when were told before lockdown 2 that 6 peolle could meet in a pub only, but not at home, then at Christmas 6 people could meet at home but not at a pub.

Not entirely sure what science the government are following at times, they'd be better of following scientology from the looks of it.

I dont think new variants are an excuse they are real.

But they shouldn't cause us to go into lockdown unless there is evidence the vaccination for the last months was pointless which most experts are saying it should still work and probably protect against more severe which is what we want.

I dont get this wanting to keep us in lockdown even though we are partially in it. We hear the conspiracies but they don't stack up.

The government can already track anyone if they wish and do all sorts, I dont see them crippling their own economies to keep us indoors, they love money and love wasting it especially on things like wars etc, they can't do that as much without the economy going well.

Its more a case of at times poorly managed and at times being ott with caution compared to some countries. Otherwise we'd see similar in other countries but we are seeing them open and in the US nearly 80k in a stadium for eg.

People who claim to have an open mind and believe conspiracies from one bit of shaky evidence over lots of decent evidence suddenly close that mind when you ask them what would happen when a virus like this spreads around the world. Exactly what we see, variants emerge because it spreads more than anything we have seen and its in such high numbers.

Thats not to say governments haven't over played things, misjudged things and been too cautious etc. Deaths have been counted when the cause of death won't have been covid etc and I've been critical of the scientific advice not allowing fans into stadiums bu peolle into other similar situations for eg.

But im not having the grand conspiracies, there's no real evidence, so many whistle blowers these days.

I don't know what to say to people who can't think particular things because they can't believe in conspiracy theories.

Clearly the world is full of conspiracies especially by wealthy elite class who do everything in cahoots.

As for whistleblowers there have been literally hundreds of thousands over this covid debacle and narrative they have just been silenced by government and corporate owned mainstream media.

My point is that if we don't protest about losing our freedom it will be removed permanently - see current Chinese governance model.

I never said i don't consider some, some are more credible than others. We know why poeple turn to them so easily, its because governments lie and there is little trust.

Its also a nice way to cover up for actually lies when you label it conspiracy.

But I'm about actual evidence and there is very little to say there is any grand conspiracy or what the outcome is and why governments would feel the need to cripple their economics, why that would be advantageous to control us over having us free and bringing in money, but still being able to control the people if they so wished anyway.

These grand conspiracies and doomsday scenarios never actually none to fruition.

Now they want to keep us in perpetual lockdown, whats the reason for that?

The country will go bust eventually if that was the case.

So governments try and sneak more powers like from terrorism and keep them and use them for non related things... yes no one is denying they always want more and at times misuse things.

The whole Snowden thing shows us they can and will hack a phone listen etc if they want to.

We know police covered up things like Hillsborough.

It stands to reason there will be more thats covered up, sly goals and sneaky methods but sometimes a situation isn't always a complete lie.

You cannot shut down hundreds of thousand of independent scientists, doctors etc in an Internet and media age.

Despite me dissing the science i do believe in the science, but its actually science not cherry picked and wrongly applied like has been at times.

Yes it can be manipulated and it depends what you pick but best to take it all in ans decide from that.

I personally think covid will die down soon , maybe once lots have the vaccine and also maybe a booster targeting a few variants. That will provide a broad brush approach and a general protection agsint most variations.

Covid won't go away but should be able to be managed just like any other thing like flu.

Do governments like the idea of getting people to have a vaccine passport for eg, probably and the type of intrusion into our lives should be taken seriously as bit by bit it erodes away freedoms.

However, again people have already given themselves to tech, we can be tracked everywhere, listened to, it records our sleep, everything.

The government won't want us in lockdown indefinitely, it serves no logical purpose and limits their own freedoms also.

Thanks you've put that all quite eloquently there. I'll re-read it again tomorrow it's quite a lot.

I would say however why is sage made up of almost entirely psychologists? Shouldn't they be made of independent scientific thinkers from an array of relevant backgrounds?
 
Couple of snippets from the latest SAGE meeting minutes. Bold is mine:

Now can you see why I think we have the shittest bunch of experts going? Obviously they are all highly intelligent individuals but as a group of people, they are no better than the soothsayers of old. "A great empire will fall..." etc. There is no accountability.

Apart from more people being ill at an unspecified point this year (predicted in May - bravo!), they can't even say - with any degree of certainty - what will happen in their own areas of 'expertise'. Which begs the question - why the fuck are we allowing these clowns free reign to meddle in all other aspects of society and people's personal lives?

The great British public really do need to grow up, stop being so susceptible to news reporting, stop hanging off the government's every word, accept life comes with *some* risk (there are NO AMOUNT of NPIs, vaccines and boosters that allow someone to live virus-free for the rest of their days) and get on with it. Life is too short to kick around worrying about variants FFS.

Infection rates have gone through the roof in Blackburn and Darwen in the last week.
Bolton is even worse x 10 above the national average infection rate for England.

Why would they do that though, who would gain from this? It all seems a little vague and you may be giving governments a little too much credit suggesting they have any plan, let alone a masterplan, or is it a shadowy society behind the governments and if so who are they?

Only through panicky necessity and only as a last resort, I'm wondering what the masterplan is and who's behind it, it's clearly not governments as it's massively damaging to their reputations and the economies they stake their re-election on, Trump has already been brought down by it all.

I'm not sure that Covid restrictions would be part of the design anyway, non of us have ever really been free but usually for good reason, most laws are there for the benefit of society, now clearly there's always despots, dictators, chancers who will use for their own gain but these have hardly been shadowy background figures as their success relies on visibility and self promotion.

I'm just wondering who the real power brokers are, people keep whispering about them but there's never been any actual evidence?

I actually watched the Matrix film for the first time this year (I was a bit busy before that watching youtube channels ... before the great purge), I enjoyed it, it was well thought through.

Another good one is John Carpenters 'They live' which the last time I looked was on Netflix or Amazon.

Anyway long live our rights to form differing opinions and the freedom to express them whilst being respectful to others.

They Live is great, a general rule is if Keith David is in it it's going to be good.
 
I've no issues with people questioning what goes on around them, and without that there really would be shadowy figures allowed to get on with their agenda.
I think when you've got Jeff Bezos, Musk, Gates etc who are far wealthier than traditionally wealthy families, they seem more capable of changing the world around us than mysterious world orders. They're also fairly up front with what they are doing.
Conspiracy theories are a good read, but mostly don't stand up in the cold light of day.
And edit to add, the average person has always been ruled since the beginning of time unlike now though, they weren't able to educate themselves, travel, own their own homes and possessions and lead a relatively free and higher earning life.

The one thing that has pissed me off with all this is some Covid lock-down protesters wearing Star of David arm bands, like their 'suffering' is comparable to the Nazi slaughter and oppression of Jews, utter bell ends!
