Covid in Children

Does anyone here have kids who contracted Covid? What were your experiences of it?

My daughter (6), son (10) and ex (double vaxxed with AZ) have all got it. Daughter tested positive on Sunday with an at home ATK test and then positive with hospital PCR test taken on Monday. Ex and son tested negative on Sunday with ATK and Positive on Monday with PCR. Yet strangely tested negative this morning with an ATK (the school we teach at provides us all with 2 ATK test a week.)

I had the kids over the weekend (Sat morning to Sunday morning) and Wednesday and Thursday night. So far I have tested negative with ATK and PCR on Sunday and Monday respectively and another ATK taken today. Kids and ex are isolating at home as am I as I'm considered high risk.

My daughter has juvenile arthritis and as such a disease like this could, in theory, be dangerous for her as she has a lower than normal immune system. When I spoke to her on video chat today she was like normal. Jumping across the sofa and doing cartwheels and handstands. In fact none of them have any major symptoms at the moment. Just a cough and fever that lasted for a day with my daughter.

It's completely random how this virus affects people and how they display symptoms.

I think your last sentence sums it up really.

Everyone is different - however if your daughter is bouncing around and playing AFTER a fever - she is probably over the worst of it - but I am no medical
Professional.

Good luck and get well soon as quick as possible to you all 👍🧡

That's the thing that worries me though. I've heard that people get over the initial symptoms quite quickly and think, "WTF is all the fuss about? Covid is a walk in the park compared to man flu." Then, bang it absolutely batters them.

Didn’t know that - best wishes to you all 👍🧡

My two grandkids aged 4 and 1 basically had a bad cold and were tired for a day or two.

After days of feeling fine, today my daughter had a seizure and was rushed to hospital. Terrifying for my ex as she said her lips were blue and she wasn't breathing properly. Ex, son and daughter are now in hospital for the night and little girl has had chest x-ray (they've all had one), CT scan and blood tests. CT showed no bleeding or damage so Doc said that it's possibly a Covid seizure. Very rare but could be that. I'm still Covid negative but was able to get to the ER before them on my bike and meet them there so I could spend some time with them (distanced and in full PPE. More than PPE than the medics actually). They're now in the rooms on the Covid floor so absolutely no visitors.

Jeez, best of luck mate, it must be very worrying.
🤞🤞

Two of mine got it last year.

My youngest who would have been 11 at the time, had a rash and a nasal douche where his nose was flooding for about 24 hours then right as rain.

My daughter, would have been 15 showed no symptoms for a few days, but we got her tested as kids in the dance school had it. 3 days later she lost her sense of taste and smell and it took ages for it to come back. The relief when she asked, quite innocently, "who's burning the toast?' about 4 or 5 months after having it was huge from our perspective.

The youngest had had his first jab, my daughter has had two.

We are lucky that no-one has been seriously ill.

Hope everybody else doesn't suffer.
