It was Adhworths or Coulssons man tbf he was trying to atone for themI thought Evan's did well yesterday. Much better than Honeyman who switched off and was far too easy to get past for their first goal and constantly gave the ball away.
Yeah possibly but he still should have made it harder. He was 1v1 with him and just let him walk past him and stick it in the far corner. It was Adhworths or Coulssons man tbf he was trying to atone for them
Evans was second to Fletcher yesterday, had an excellent gameEvans was decent yesterday .
Not impressed with the two you refer to.It was Adhworths or Coulssons man tbf he was trying to atone for them
absolutely Hazi. Ball knocked into the channel and neither of them were anywhere near. Both clearly had switched off.It was Adhworths or Coulssons man tbf he was trying to atone for them
Yet look at the match thread and he was getting dog's abuse as the game was in progress. That's the problem with real time knee jerking / blindly following your own agenda / being a stupid idiot. The penalty aside which was brilliantly taken, that was Evans best game for months. He deserved to stay on when Evo changed it , hopefully he can find consistency now .
Like the strong personality bit. It's spot on (Geditt!?!?), no, seriously he stepped up and was willing to take the stick if he missed. Credit to him.Fair play to Evans for taking the responsibility.
Fletcher said he was willing to take it (who's under no pressure from the negative boo boys), so credit to Evans for shrugging off the doubters.
Shows a strong personality.
Would you say he missed having Brown around him?Played well yesterday Evans. Quality midfielder but unfortunately some of our more thicko fans seem to associate putting your foot on the ball and playing passes to feet with being a luxury. They’d rather have someone charging around at 100 miles an hour into tackles because they never have the ball under control and permanently lose possession.
He played well, but he does slow down our play and Bowler for example needs a pass zipping into him, to be fully effective in his new role. The same applies to our wide players. It’s all too lethargic, stroking passes backwards & sideways. It’s so easy to nullify our threat. Too often, he puts the onus on players behind him, who don’t have the technical ability. It’s easy to look good when you are playing passes in your own half, not under any pressure.Played well yesterday Evans. It was 100% clear in a number of games that Evans controls the pace tactically. Orient away was the best example. Orient were at us but the introduction of Evans turned the game around. We managed to take gradual control as a consequence. Football is not about lumping it forward and hoping; that’s Sunday league. He played well, but he does slow down our play and Bowler for example needs a pass zipping into him, to be fully effective in his new role. He did spray a few nice long passes, but if we are to open up teams, we’ve got to put more pace on the shorter ground passes through the midfield line.
We are less threatening with him starting, we just don’t operate as fluently as a team. I’m not saying he’s a poor player, but I think he’s now a player that needs to be used when we need to control a game from a winning position.
Obviously you have a different opinion and I respect that.
If you read what I posted I referred to short ground passes through midfield, in to our danger players, Bowler in particular. Honeyman may not have had a good game but as for the first goal, he was a midfielder charging back into a space where a left sided CH and a LWB should have been but had gone walkabout somewhere.Agree with the above comments regarding Evans...
Thought Honeyman had a poor game yesterday; at fault for the first goal and would have brought Albie on for him a little earlier
yep, well said. Seems to me many of our fans don't appreciate that type of player. A player who gets and gives and keeps play ticking over. Barry Ferguson and Jay Spearing came in for a lot of criticism from people on here over their style and Evans is now another. That said, there is no doubt his form has dipped from when he first came.Evatt's system suits Evans really well and he plays a role very similar to Sheehan from Evatt's time at Bolton. For us to play the way we want to, having a centre mid to keep everything ticking and keep the ball is one of the most important positions on the pitch and Evans is probably the most suited player we have to do that.
He goes back because he has no options to hit in front of him, i think sometimes he is ahead of other players in his thinking. He was fine. Unfortunately he slows us down no end. Had a great game knocking passes back to Horsfall and Peacock-Farrell though
IMO Evo's not getting the best out of Honeyman in his "process".I thought Evan's did well yesterday. Much better than Honeyman who switched off and was far too easy to get past for their first goal and constantly gave the ball away.
You started on the negative and became slightly more positive. Poor presentation. If you read what I posted I referred to short ground passes through midfield, in to our danger players, Bowler in particular. That is not lumping it forward.
No, just lack of attention to detail on your partYou started on the negative and became slightly more positive. Poor presentation.
This was the classic argument for Norburn. Watch Evans closely, doesn’t even look forward a lot of the time, just knocks it backwards. He goes back because he has no options to hit in front of him, i think sometimes he is ahead of other players in his thinking.
At what point do we say the player isn’t getting enough out of themselves?IMO Evo's not getting the best out of Honeyman in his "process".
George needs to be given a bit more freedom to go and disrupt and chase the ball rather than chase the open spaces.
Evans had 95 touches, Josh had 51 and George had 40. Add to that Honeyman won 3/5 ground duels (Bowler 5/7, Evans 3/4). The only one of the three to win an aerial duel was Josh 1/1.
That doesn't sit right with me.
I watch him very closely don't worry about that, and he is a good player, no problem with him being in the team for me, he is a far better player than NorburnThis was the classic argument for Norburn. Watch Evans closely, doesn’t even look forward a lot of the time, just knocks it backwards.
He’s okay, don’t get me wrong, just slows down the whole team imo and if brown had been available yesterday instead we’d have played a lot better.
Would agree that Honeyman wasn't at his best but he does always give 100%I thought Evan's did well yesterday. Much better than Honeyman who switched off and was far too easy to get past for their first goal and constantly gave the ball away.
