Critch to Sheff Utd?

It's not an exact science, no... But you can, nonetheless, make a judgement and form an opinion. First and foremost you have to ask yourself what circumstances might prompt this so called 'life changing offer' in the next 12-18 months. Do you think it's possible we might be getting slightly ahead of ourselves?

"Do you think it's possible we might be getting slightly ahead of ourselves?"

Absolutely x3.

The whole conversation was driven by Sheffield United sacking their manager yesterday and if they'd made a replacement even more quickly we wouldn't have been discussing things.

There is certainly no guarantee that Critch will get a 'life changing offer' in the next 12-18 months, it could perhaps be argued that this could make him more likely to accept such an offer if he were to receive one but you make a fair point.

To be honest, I was always talking about IF Critchley was to receive an offer from anybody and not specifically Sheffield United and was discussing what weight somebody like him would put on money if he was to receive such an offer and didn't actually think that Critch was on his way to Sheffield United although I did say that it was not impossible.

Although I think you are right in saying that we are getting ahead of ourselves, I think the board - that's AVFTT - is perhaps moving in the right direction as it can't be a week since plenty on here had him down as the next Liverpool manager !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's not impossible but is an example of getting even more ahead of ourselves.

To be honest, I agree with just about everything you have said regarding the whole situation - if there is/was any situation - and agree with you on almost everything apart from the value of money and there is no right and wrong answer on that one.

Wolves were in for Ferguson aswell 2020 but he didn't go because he felt they were in decline and there was still untapped potential at Aberdeen, he was right.
Agree it isn't a black and white situation few things are, which also means that just because a man is offered a big pay rise elsewhere doesn't always mean he will immediately take it.
I wouldn't be in too much of a rush to take on a job where they sack a man after 6 months because they have had an average start.

One day he will go but I think it will be a considered career move and not just a case of my missus will get a bigger house if I leave!

Absolutely gj.

Like BFC x 3, you make good and fair points regarding the considerations to be made when decisions are faced.

I probably still think that you are not putting enough weight on the value of the remuneration but I've discussed that with x3 and I don't think there is any wrong and right.

I won't go on and on - I probably will mind !!!!!!!!! - but something I mentioned regarding Ferguson supports both sides of the debate.

When Ferguson was offered the Man Utd he was to receive a higher basic than what he was on at Aberdeen but with the bonuses he was on at Aberdeen was receiving he was effectively taking a pay cut.

So this could be a perfect example of somebody not being influenced by money and somebody could suggest that Ferguson was not influenced by money - lol !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He also owed Aberdeen a considerable sum at the time and was disappointed that Man Utd did not agree to settle these monies, this is an example that money was considered before he made his decision and his move to United didn't turn out too bad to be fair.

Okey doke gj, I'm chunnering again, you made good and fair points and back on Critch, I hope he is faced with making important career decisions in the future because I think it's fair to say that the attractiveness - not just financially !!!!!!! - of the offers he receives will be greater if he is successful with the Mighty.

Yep I get you were just talking generally… amd not specifically… So was I really….

I think we all know the type of Clubs that break managerial careers and Sheff United are a good example right now, having just offloaded 2 managers in a short time…

I don’t think Critch would be stupid enough to make that sort of move.

Of course, equally I very much doubt that a club like that would offer him this illusive “life changing money” either and probably not in the next 12-18 months…. Of course, they might if we got to the Prem, but then we could probably offer him “Life Changing Money” to stay or at least compete with that type of Club.

Who knows though….. I suspect Liverpool and Klopp will be keeping a close eye on his progress and as with Steven Gerrard, he likely will have that Job up there at the top of his aspiration list…. Is he good enough? Who knows…

He seems to have an exceptional football brain, but he’s been very well supported at Blackpool and there’s an awful lot (no doubt) that goes on behind the scenes that we don’t get to see or appreciate.

I think he understands the value of taking his time to develop and build a solid foundation for a long career in management. He gives that impression and as I’ve said I suspect he will be well advised…..Money talks of course (and I appreciate that S1 is a) very money motivated personally and b) is simply reflecting the realities of Football as they are) so I’m under no illusions as to what could happen.

👍

Can you imagine Critch saying to Ronaldo, Sterling and other established prem players, I want you to 'play a certain way etc'?
That's the beauty of what Critch does, take young players and bring them up to his standards.
Would he go to another Prem side and tell their superstars he wants to change their style of play?
