Cup Priorities

When we returned to the Championship, my main focus in that first season was to retain our place and maybe have a little run in the FA Cup. When we did so with ease, I always hoped season two would see us have some real success in the cups - nice cup upset along the way - whilst managing the day to day Championship life (that clearly didn't happen!).

So now we're back in League One, just wondering what everyone else's priorities are. I think my main concern is the amount of games and the way they are dishing out yellows left, right and centre means it could have a longer term negative knock on effect to a potential promotion. So, whilst I'd like a good performance and some important game time for players, I genuinely don't believe early exits from the EFL Cup or Trophy a bad thing.

There's not a lot of money to be made from the league cup or whatever the LDV is called these days unless you go deep into the competition, which is a load of games where you can pick up injuries and disciplinary problems. I wouldn't be fussed if we lose tonight as long as people get minutes and we don't pick up injuries and cards.
The FA cup is a different matter. I want to see us in the third round at least.

Glad we’re through to Round 2 (although most of the sides who could give you a good pay day don’t enter to Round 3), little interest in the EFL Trophy (forgotten who we play actually!) but good experience for the squad and agree the FA Cup is the one I’d love.

Like I've said on a contemporaneous thread, we're not going to win these competitions but the longer we stay in them, the more good game time we get into the whole squad.

It's always good to win in cups, keeps the squad happy, is fun and can be beneficial to thr club and fanabse, especially if we got a big team.

There's NEVER a good time, it can always be we need promotion, we need survival, if not now... when?

I love watching the cup draws when we are still in it. I find myself shouting, not them or yes please as teams come out of the bag.

Too many games and now over 100 minutes long ,injuries red cards ,I’d rather go straight back up,and save money for away league games
