Dale to Pompey

Never lived up to the early promise of his debut performance. One of the players I had marked down not to make the 25 man squad.

Injuries have been a problem for him but Appleton seems to want a different type to play wide up front; a bit more pace and strength.

The writings been on the wall for him this pre season. He’s not a bad player but he’s not as good as he thinks he is.

If you look at the players we’ve signed they seem to be the players we hoped Dale might develop into.

I fear Lg 1 is the ceiling for him.

Low cost punt. Nothing really lost.

Agreed and thank god we didn't sign Kirk as well because he was bang average too.

We're a bit overstocked in the wide positions for me when you include Yates and Lavery, Dale going out on loan makes me think it improves the likelihood of Bowler staying.

Before Critchley left i wouldn’t have shed any tears about Kirk signing, I figured he was the best crosser of the ball we had and he’d probably form a so so squad to keep us up. Albeit a very dull one. Having said that since Apples has come in I’m very pleased to see we’ve gone in a different direction and brought in a few more dynamic players.

Would be a good move for Dale.

Has never really had consistent enough game time here.

Should be a good opportunity to show what he can do.

If Appleton doesn't rate him after, then there's a higher chance he'll be wanted on a permanent by another club.

I don't think it signifies that Morgan Rogers is close, I think it's more about reducing the squad size to reach the limit.

He spat his dummy out at Crewe, refused to play and was a real pain in the arse by all accounts.
That was one of the few occasions where we've been in for a player and the player actually wanted to come here because our level as a club is big enough to make it feel like a step up from Crewe, without having to put any effort in to sell it to him. He'd seen all his mates sold off before that and wanted the same so I'd no problem with him pushing for a move.

If it is that he's got an attitude problem then going to the other end of the country to play for the Cowleys should sort him out.

Seems a bit lightweight in the Championship due to his size and coming up against bigger and faster defenders. Did well before in League One for Crewe before so should be a match for Pompey.

So he did what we'd all have liked the "unambitious" Cameron Brannagan to do to further his career?
Not exactly. Most transfers dont involve that behaviour and Brannagan just needed to agree terms with us. Different situation.

I said i tend to agree with Herts. The language was the usual stuff. Should of/ bang average etc. 😆

Option to buy at the end of the loan allegedly, their manager wants it done in the next 48 hours.

Got to admit he doesn’t seem to look like he appreciates the fact he’s in a job many of us would love to be in. On what I’ve seen of him if he goes on loan so be it & if he returns a better player then good. If he fails to impress, he’ll probably end up back with us & be touted about again.

We should never of signed him, bang average, league 1 at best and has a terrible attitude. Let's hope they like him and want to buy him
do you know what and i realise he’s done a couple of great things i can’t take to him, seems to have a terrible attitude but that aside i don’t think he’s good enough for us and we’ve moved on.

Not sure why we signed him TBH....

He's clearly got some technical ability, but he's just not got the grit and determination for Championship Football IMHO. Certainly never done anything to justify a regular place in the team.
Critchley wanted him, he wanted to come here and it was just about doable even though it still took them two transfer windows

Was starting to look like they had buyers remorse before they'd even paid for him.

I wonder if that's where Quitchley fell down really... He was clearly a very good coach and tactician (Yep, understand some didn't like the football, but he understood how to pick the opposition apart and capitalise on their weaknesses and he did it to great affect against some top class opposition)... However... I'm far from convinced about some of the signings.

Yeah maybe an example of what happens when, despite all the fancy job titles, if nobody else is coming up with any good ideas or making deals happen in the transfer market for him to manage then it was left up to him to sort, so the ex Crewe lads he'd coached before. They're all technically good footballers but you need a little bit more about you in the championship. And the one we didn't have a sniff of keeping of course is the best of the lot.

I wonder what Sadler's view is on all the recruitment team stuff? The one permanent signing so far this summer (Thompson) seems to have been instigated by Appleton, who has tried to sign him before.

We assumed a lot of the young Prem loanees were down to Critchley's scouting and U23 contacts. But looking at our business so far, maybe our recruitment staff are focusing their efforts there?

I'd love to know which signings they've actually had a hand in. It could be a collaborative effort but none of it seems to make a lot of sense at the moment.

I cant dispute the cranky. I've been over used on here and it does my friggin ed in tbh. 😆

And I dont wear multi coloured bamboo knickers.
Well, you see that's the sort of thing that's missing in your life, they're a revelation (no they don't reveal anything) Honestly you need to change your pants, it'll make you a new man!! 🧐

They just seem to make you panic and change your mind a lot and turn against people, looking at it from my armchair! What are the pluses? Do you dance more now? 😉😆
